SB620 certificate of birth resulting in stillbirth-PA

Target:
Pennsylvania legislatures
Sponsored by:
Pennsylvania has been trying for nine years to join the 27 other states who have already passed the bill allowing families that have experienced this devastating loss of their babies. Babies that are born "sleeping" at birth that are not recognized by the states that they were born in. Please help us fight for this bill to be passed so that we can have some sense of closure and the dignity that we all deserve. We were denied a birth certificate and were told that our babies are fetus's. Most of them born at 36, 40 and even 42weeks alive in thier mother's womb. Each and every one of us denied proof that they did exist, proof that they are our children. This bill has been stalled in the senates health and welfare department but as of October of this year senator Hughes agreed to "get out of the way" and let the bill go to the house again. The bill was passed to the house last year and was "Hijacked". They changed the word child to fetus and took out the word birth. My question to them is how can someone die if they were never born?So we must continue to fight in honor and memory of our sweet little angels, who so quickly passed through our lives and touched our hearts like noone else ever can or will. Thank you and God bless.

My baby cousin, Nicholas had passed away in his mother's belly one week before he was born and no one should be denied a birth certificate. Denying a mother and father a birth certificate is like saying that the baby never existed. There was a living baby that was going to be born and I think all stillborn babies should be ackwoledged by a birth certificate.

This is a very worthwhile cause to support and get behind on. Children are a very special gift not only to their families, but to everyone involved with watching them grow and develop. Its a real tragedy when People have to endure losing a child under any circumstances and anything we can do to prevent that, protect and promote the lives of the children and their parents we should support.

I hope the folks in Harrisburgh understand the importance of this. Not sure why it's taking folks so long to give parents what they deserve. Can't imagine what would be blocking this that would make any sense at all.

Everyone defines "living" in different ways. I believe life begins at conception. However, most courts wait until the fetus is 28 weeks gestation. I believe it should be the parent's right to have a birth certificate of their still born. After all, how can something have a death certificate if it was never considered "living"?

It is time for Pennsylvania to move out of the dark ages and pass this legislation, 27 other states have, that will finally acknowledge the birth of these deeply loved and wanted babies. How can our state mandate a death certificate registration and mandate parents to cremate or bury their child but not recognize that a birth took place!! In memory of my beloved great-granddaughter, Seneca May Tonge born still at full term January 4, 2007.

My friend, Shawn Betts, lost her daughter. A child that grew and LIVED inside of her. A breath outside of the mother does not constitute life. A growing baby is life. A full term, PLUS two weeks, little baby that, regardless of any existing law,is her child, with a name and brothers and a legacy of broken hearts.
