Send Jenny to The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee!

Keep Jenny, a 32 year old African elephant currently residing at the Dallas Zoo from being shipped to a drive-through tourist "wildlife safari" called "Africam Safari" in Mexico, where Jenny will not be protected by U.S. animal welfare laws or by independent oversight through regular inspections by the U. S. Department of Agriculture.

Due to stress, Jenny's behavior has become increasingly more aggressive since the loss of her companion in May 2008 and is exacerbated by traffic, vehicles and loud noises. Jenny stopped eating, playing, interacting, drinking, etc. for days following the presence of fire trucks near her exhibit in 1995. She would be constantly aggravated and suffer from undue stress in a drive-through tourist safari.

Alternately, Jenny could be moved to The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee, where she would have high quality daily and veterinary care, the quiet, therapeutic environment she needs, and would continue to be protected by U.S. animal welfare laws.

Let Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert know that sending Jenny to Mexico to "Africam Safari" would be detrimental to her health and well-being, as well as the health and well-being of other elephants in her company. Keep her in the United States where she will ontinue to be protected by U.S. animal welfare laws.

We urge you to have Jenny the African Elephant currently residing in the Dallas Zoo moved to The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee where she will continue to be protected by U.S. animal welfare laws and will receive high quality daily and veterinary care, the quiet, therapeutic environment she needs.

Moving Jenny to the "Africam Safari" in Mexico would be a detriment to her health and well-being, subjecting her to a constant barrage of vehicles, noise and aggravation.

We urge you to act as quickly as possible on Jenny's behalf to ensure she receives the care and compassion she deserves.
