Serbia: Relocate Belgrade's Zoo & create Livable Conditions for the Animals!

The living conditions for the animals in the Belgrade, Serbia zoo are sadly unacceptable.  The zoo is located on the grounds of the ancient fortress Kalemegdan, which is a beautiful, but highly innapropriate, location for animals.  The cages where the animals are kept are incredibly small, old, and rusted and the food thrown into the cages is inadequate and unsuitable. There is often little or no water available to the animals.  The windowless indoor enclosures are made of cement blocks, they are dark and severely over-crowded.  Various wild animals are in cages in direct view of other animals.  Some of the animals are in desperate need of larger enclosures; they are all in need of healthier, more appropriate food in larger quantities; a constantly available supply of water; and items such as climbing pieces, trees, and scratching and playing items for mental stimulation.

Please sign this petition to relocate the zoo grounds and animals to a location outside the city where these wild animals will be able to live in a place that they deserve and a place that the people of Belgrade can be proud to show off to visitors who choose to experience the zoo.

Thank you for your help in doing all you can to improve this situation.
Most sincerely,
Jennifer M. Williams
