Severe Animal Abuse in Searcy County -- Authorities Afraid of Abusers & Won't Arrest

In Searcy County, Arkansas, there is ongoing severe animal abuse of horses, dogs, cats, & numerous puppy mills.

Many people visit the Ozarks to enjoy the scenery and rafting on the White & Buffalo Rivers and play in Branson, MO. Branson is less than 70 miles from Searcy County. These visitors do not see the horrid behavior of these animal abusers.

Whenever we've tried to do anything about abuse we're told: "If you want to continue to live in Searcy County you had better stop what you're doing." Personally, I have been threatened with bodily harm and a shotgun to the face.

The local police, county sheriff & his deputies are afraid of several abusers, but especially one man, Roy Meadows, who owns several horses, who was charged and never convicted. People have admitted they think he is crazzy and they're afraid of him. He was charged with killing his horses by denying water to them. It says "A warrant has been issued for Roy Meadows, though at last check, he hadn't been arrested. If he's convicted, he could face up to six years in prison." The deputies went to his house and he kicked in the squad car's back window. It appears animals have no rights in this county.

The radio, tv, & newspapers have reported that there has only been one case of abuse in Searcy County. There are over 500 breeding mills in the State of Arkansas, and 100 of them are in Searcy County. These are horrid places for the animals that live there. These animals never see daylight, never feel the warmth of the sun, and never feel the touch of grass. Their cages are to small to even stand in.
