Shriners - Stop Using Animals in Your Circus Shows!

Shrine Circus continue to use animals in their circus performances despite several incidents over the years including the death of an elephant handler. They have failed to meet minimal federal standards for animal care under the Animal Welfare Act (AWA). The public have also been at risk at their shows as there have been many incidents of circus goers getting injured and attacked by the animals.
Animals in circuses endure a lifetime of torture and pain. They are deprived of everything that is natural to them and forced to perform tricks that are beaten in to them with bullhooks and electric prods by the trainers.
Please join us in telling Shriners that animals do not deserve to be in circuses and to focus on their human acts instead.
***IMPORTANT***Please keep all comments polite. Do not under any circumstance post hateful, aggressive or threatening speech as this will only hurt the cause and this in turn only hurts the animals. We want to be taken seriously.
We the undersigned are writing to you today to ask that you stop using animals in your circus shows. Animals that are used in circuses suffer miserable lives. The trainers of these animals get them to perform unnatural, uncomfortable, and dangerous tricks by violently beating them with devices such as whips, electric prods, and bullhooks. They suffer in their tiny boxcars with no heat or air conditioning as they are taken from one performance to another. When the animals are not performing, they are kept chained up or in small cages. The circus also deprives them of their basic needs and environments which causes extreme stress and psychological problems for the animals.
We urge you to stop using animals and focus on your human acts instead, which are just as if not more entertaining as animal acts. Until this happens we will boycott Shrine Circus and all events by Shriners.
Thank you for reading and we hope you come to the compassionate decision.
