"I bought a guinea pig from them YEARS ago, over 10 years ago. Cute little white baby. They didn't ask me any questions, just went & got her for me, put her in a box, I paid & off we went. Small store, cages everywhere. I bought her because I felt bad for her sittin there in that cage. She had a patch of hair missing on her back. I asked the guy & all he said was "i don't know, but it will grow back" It grew back, but then it went away again & kept doing that, she never had hair there. Oh yea....not too long after I brought her home, I got a little surprise of 4 babies! So they sold a minor with no parent a pregnant animal with fur loss problems."
" I was a GTC this past weekend (the first time I had been there in YEARS), and saw this "pet store". First, I don't think that the 6 inches of dust on EVERYTHING is healthy. Like don't stores have to be clean?!?! Just a thought. My family owns a total of five dogs. So I have a soft spot for them. :-) I was standing at this "store" and these dogs looked so sad. There was one that couldn't even stand up in the cage. Another one was laying in it's own waste. It was just too sad. I looked at the "employee" and he was in there searching either Facebook or MySpace and looking and pictures of half naked girls. Because that is what you are suppose to do while you work."
"I remember going there with my parents when I was still in school, and they had hamsters that stunk like no tomorrow. The dogs were dirty, matted, and had long nails. That was in the mid-90's and I'd hoped by now people had stopped buying animals. But I guess they feel sorry for them, and think they are saving them. I cant argue with that logic, the pets DO get much better futures. But the problem is, so long as people are buying from that woman, she'll stay in business and keep getting more animals, and keep giving them the same care (or lack there of)."
"I was in there today to see the birds and I thought the place was terrible. They were hitting a cage with a pomeranian puppy in it because it was barking for attention. The birds had no toys in their cages and I seen mice running around and eating left over food out of some of the empty cages in the back. I felt so bad for the blue and gold macaw that I wish I could of taken it home with me. I think the place should be shut down!!"
"This pet store is nothing more than a public puppy mill. I don't understand why it is not shut down and all the animals removed. They are crammed into small cages that are dirty and moldy. "I bought a pomaranian puppy at pollywood my daughter fell in love with him they told me he was healthy my god i have spent so many nights up with him throwing up diarrea earmites parasites in his belly it has costs us thousands and lots of heartache now we find out he might die. he has a severe heart mermer. im now trying to come up with the money for a cardiologist because the doctor tells me he probably wont live. thanks people at pollywood.we called them and they told us to just trade him you tell me how do you just trade a puppy you love? so if your sick should we just give up on you? i think you should pay his bills since you lied and told me he was healthy... remember i keep my bargin i payed you 650 and continue to love this little guy and you wanted us to just trade him. he is a living being. well i also think they should shut you down and iam considering going to the news for action. i will not just sit back and watch my little guy die in vain."
"This is by far the most discusting petstore. all the puppies/older dogs are living in urine/poo covered cages. the dogs are complelty overpriced and have EXTREME health problems. their feet are injured from living on bar floors. ask ANYONE and they will tell you NO animal should live with a barred floor. there was once a dog there for over 2 years, sick, obvious medical conditions, and too overpriced for me myself to save. the dogs are not regularly excersized or even played with. the birds are obviously stressed out because they are plucking out their own feathers. i especially feel bad for the ones that are "not for sale" because they have to live the rest of their lives in that terrible place. puppies drink out of water bottles? i guess they are hampsters now. the owners and employees are completly rude. even the 7 year old employee will give you the "know it all" attitude. puppies are matted with eye/ear infections from living in complete filth. some of the puppies cant even stand up. they are not given chew toys so they tend to chew on the metal bars. they lie about the breed and size the puppy will become. my friend SAVED two puppies from there and was told they would be 5 lbs chihowa mixes. they both reached 25 lbs. they both had worms and eye/ear infections and were given a bath the second they got home because they were covered in urine. i understand puppies go potty a lot but if you were sucessfully running a good petstore you would clean their cages 7-8 times a day. if you cannot do that then you obviously shouldnt own a business that entitles that."

The state agency responsible for ensuring the safety of animals has never fined or shut down a single metro Detroit pet shop, even though inspectors for years have found inhumane conditions and neglect that have endangered dogs and cats, records show.
Nearly a quarter of the roughly 70 pet shops in southeast Michigan have been cited in the past four years for housing sickly animals, confining dogs and cats to dirty, cramped cages and selling pets that are unhealthy or below the legal age. None has been shut down or fined, the Department of Agriculture records show.
And conditions could get worse. That's because the department is abandoning inspections altogether, unless complaints involve serious abuse or disease outbreaks. The state used to do unannounced annual inspections.
Agency officials say they must shift the focus to monitoring deer and cattle populations for contagious diseases such as tuberculosis. A shrinking budget is compounding the problem.
More than 30 people have complained to the state this year about Pollywood Pets, inside the Gibraltar Trade Center in Mt. Clemens. That's more than any other store. Among the complaints: 20 kittens stuffed in a pen; sick puppies covered in feces, some injured by broken cages; guinea pigs bleeding and overcrowded, one without an eye.
State inspectors found similar conditions in visits since 2003 but did nothing. Inspection records show they found a dog's carcass in a freezer and kittens who died after receiving no veterinary care. Other kittens, too young for legal sale, were infested with fleas and slumped over in dehydration in an old birdcage.

My mom and dad just bought a little puppy there that was supposed to be a sheltie but we took it to the vet the next day and found out that it is a mix with something else as well as having kidney problems and has one eye bulging most likely due to being hit the vet said. The lady there was very short with people and didn't ask any questions about where the dog is going or anything she just wanted to make money.
The people at BOTH Gibralter trade centers are TERRIBLE people! When we were at the Taylor Girbralter petstore they were killing rats for snake food by grabbing them by the tail and smacking them against the edge of a wooden table in front of children! The women who was doing it got joy from it because she was smiling. Nasty cow!
Every puppy coming out of there has parvo.
My husband and I watched a little dog for one year thinking someone would adopt him. When they didn't, we did. He screamed when I tried to put him in grass. He didn't know what it was. Fortunately, he is a wonderful little puppy that tries to please. He hoards toys which is funny and ate ferociously when we first brought him home. He's learned food will always be there for him and has become a better eater. I don't know what happens to these dogs they have now. I do plan to buy one more only because it is sick and I have been watching it for one year as well and don't want to think about what will become of it if I don't buy it. What guidelines are used to determine abuse? If I cared for my pets the way they care for their "breadwinners," I would be arrested. They are as bad as the house with all the chihuahuas and old people with cats galore. At least those people are love gone wrong not profit allowed to abuse.

WE NEED TO TAKE MATTERS IN OUR OWN HANDS!!!The State of Michigan Agricultural division has been contacted regarding this horrible place. I have personally talked to Dr. Steve Halstead and his staff. Basically because of our sad economy I was told "there is not enough manpower/money to investigate every pet store"!!! The State of Michigan has STOPPED inspecting pet stores to save a whopping $150,000 a year!!( yes 150 thousand ) ???? Apparently our state vet does not really care that much about animals! I could not beleive the State Veternarian has no regard for the way these animals are being treated. I have proof that Shelly Myers buys her animals from puppy mills.(If you do not know what a puppy mill is, please google it online and read the horrendous conditions these poor animals are forced to live in.) Not only does Shelley buy the dogs, she also abuses them. They stay in cages day and night with no toys, bedding, etc..The dogs have no human contact except when Shelley or her son ( David Jr.) hit them.They are forced to stand on wire cages. You often see them chewing the cage wire out of boredom or an attempt to escape. I have seen sick cats, one in particular was in a fish tank aquariam! I have seen 6 rabbits stuffed in one cage with little fruit fly looking bugs. I have credible evidence from a close witness to the store that Shelley has (and still does ) killed dogs with an IV soultion she administers herself! The "store mascot" bird has been hit by David Myers Jr.( Shelley's son )on numerous occasions. I have also witnessed him open a dog cage and smack the dog in the face for barking too much!I do have some pictures I was able to take with my cell phone before I was kicked out! On our first visit to the Gibraltar Trade Center my youngest daughter discovered Pollywood Pets. To say that the place was very disturbing is sugar coating it. My daughter was in tears because there was a cage with a litter of Bichipoos in it that was not only cramped and dirty, but the puppies had cuts on them from biting each other. The smallest victim- the runt of the litter- stole my daughter's heart. This child was willing to give up everything she had to save this puppy. Despite having just purchased a Bichon puppy from a reputable breeder 4 weeks prior, I couldn't walk away. After some negotiating, we left the store with an 8 wk old puppy in need of some intense TLC. Thankfully, Chloe- the puppy- was confirmed to be healthy, although neglected, by our vet. For over a year, Chloe became very nervous whenever anyone picked her up. We believe she must have been dropped before we saved her. Although I recognize that by buying her we supported the very monster we were saving her from, there was no other option for my family. To this day, the bond between my daughter and Chloe is unbelievable! Even our other puppy was protective of Chloe from day one. So, to be able to take a neglected/abused animal and bring them into a warm, loving and protected home was our way of trying to right the wrong. Please stop Pollywood from draining the life out of poor helpless animals. Not all of the animals there live happily ever after. Shut this business down.

Please help to change the practices of Pollywood Pets. I once saw a Puggle that was over a year old that started there as a young puppy. Puggles need a lot of space as they have Beagle in them and love to play. To be locked inside a cage for months with little to no attention is inhumane. Please stop this.

I had a family member purchase a dog there about a year ago.. it was sick, not sure what the EXACT diagnosis was, but I remember her telling me that it cost her $800 for the dog, and $1000 more (on top of normal vet care) to get her dog back to health. After she first got the dog, she brought her to our house (didn't want to leave it alone for too long) and it was VERY larthargic and non-puppy like. There was terrible eye stains that couldn't have accumulated for just having it a week. I personnally have been to this store, it makes me very sad and upset everytime I walk past the window. The puppy days are when they need the brain development and socialization the MOST! Shame on pollywood for having no MORALS, but just GREED. Its just an outlet to illegal puppy MILLS!
Well, here we go, the problem here starts with Greed & Corruption starting right at the top with our lovely Canadian Gov' , (who's usually flying around the world trying to bring "Jobs" to Michigan....but Never does) , then filters right down to the Dept of Agriculture who is claiming there's no wrong doing at this Pet Store??? This (and every) State will gladly take our Tax dollars and promise "Jobs" & economy recovery, but look around !(keep squinting ... until you see China) Second, WHY does the managers of the Gibralter Trade center even allow a vendor such as this when SO many people are complaining??? It HAS to stink bad enough there by now. Since the Authorities won't do anything, it'd be great to see like 500 people show up there on a givin day & time & just "take" all the pets away from these rotten people.....what are they gonna do?........call the authorities? (ha) ....Just kiddin, actually we should all boycott the GTC and when business starts hurtin - i bet something gets done with the sick lady & her kids. Has anyone investigated here home? I bet there is the same filth there & it's highly possible there are even more animals there ....

I have been to this pet store myself many times with my husband. And we could not belive the conditions of the animals and the way they had to live. No person should be permitted to have such a place and sell animals on top of it. What would the state do if a person was doing this to children or even an adult. Think these poor animals have no feelings like like people do because they can't talk like we do.
I have seen this place and the treatment of the dogs and cats is just crazy never to be let out of there cages even for a few minutes a day is just downright cruel, please shut this place down.

I have been there several times and I wish I had the money to buy all the poor animals and find them good homes. I personally know of 3 people who have bought puppies from there and have all died within 5 days because of being severally ill from the get go. I have tried everything i can to get her shut down for years now. Hope this time it works.

shelly and her family needs to stay looked up in one of their cages o you can't fitt to bad your animals did.now you say you need a brush or comb well your animals didn't have one and you don't need one you'll just have to shave you like the animals who got matted up because of you. now you say food and water i'm so sorry you'll have to wait till next weekend thats when the center opens.and now you ask about walking around so you can go potty well well well i don't think so just potty where you sit youll be fine.
