I am in support of a 100% smoke free environment as I have great concern for the health of children and all people including those who choose to smoke. I believe full heartedly initiative to ban smoking in all indoor public and work places, including bars stands for freedom. I also believe that the ban should include any close outdoor proximity of the same. It is a farce to ban the indoor smoking but allow individuals to stand just outside the door of a building/facility while they smoke only to have the toxins immediately sucked into the building/facility air circulation system. Children will accept that smoking is socially unacceptable and something to avoid if they are raised in a state that actively supports and enforces Public Smoking Bans. When adults publically display their smoking behaviors as they participate in social activities they are taking away the personal choice of individuals who do not want to smoke or breath second hand smoke. Movie Ratings do not allow smoking or portrayal of smoking in movies that are viewed by children. Why should there be any less concern for the influence of smoking in real life. Public Intoxication is outlawed because of the known fact that it threatens the health and safety of all individual including the intoxicated person. Why then would Smoking be allowed? A ban on smoking in all indoor public and work places should be approved as soon as possible for the entire state of Idaho to stand as an example of a Health Care Initiative for the entire United States to follow.

As an ex-smoker, I was always mindful of those around me. More than someone having the right to smoke wherever and whenever they want, I believe that everyone has the right to be in a public place and not have to take on, internally or externally, other people's potentially dangerous secondhand smoke. Customer's might have limited exposure, but think of the employee's who spend significant amounts of time in smokey environments. What rights are being denied them? Is it really a right to smoke? Is that in the constitution? It is their choice to smoke, and if they choose to do so, let them go outside.

I don't understand how the people that smoke can argue against this. If you want to harm yourself, that's your choice, but it's really not fair that I work hard to stay healthy and you just blow smoke in my face when I'm out trying to have a good time. It's downright disrespectful. SMOKE-FREE BOISE!!!

Secondhand smoke is a health hazard. No one should have to choose between a job and good health. Removing smoke from bars has not had a significant adverse impact on revenues. Smokefree policies protect citizens’ health – there is no risk-free level of exposure to secondhand smoke. Broad support exists for smokefree policies.

I get migranes as soon as I smell it so I would hope I do not have to go through that in a public place

Second hand smoke kills people and may prevent women from successfully developing a fetus.

Nicotine is such an addicting drug. Let's nip this in the bud by curtailing people even starting and polluting others precious air.

This e-mail came from our grandaughter. I'm so proud of my granddaughters (six), who are all non-smokers. It's verry important to us.

It is inappropriate and irresponsible to smoke in an enclosed environment with the full knowledge that it is harming those around you.

Anything that makes it difficult for people to smoke may prompt someone to quit and improve their own health, in addition to eliminating the effect on others who make the healthy choice not to smoke.

We all know the dangers of second hand smoke! I specifically stay away from businesses where I know this is going to be a problem and I think many others do to.

I quit 22 years ago, and have realized since how very very ill I was after only 5 years of smoking. I am from Norway where indoor smoking in public places has been banned for years already, and the night clubs are still doing great business wise. Some set up "smoking-buses" outside in the winter, but none of them had the drop in business they feared if smoking was to be banned.

I quit smoking a couple years ago. It was partly due to the fact that you were not able to smoke in doors in Seattle, WA. It will help those trying to quit by not having to be surrounded by smoke all the time! Please make Boise SmokeFree!

because i hate other people having control over my health and well being. my parents smoked when i grew up and i hated the way it made me smell, and what the second hand smoke did to my lungs

We should be able to enjoy ourselves inside with out having to breath in deadly toxins. Smoking is fine when done outside but not inside for everyone to suffer.

My wife is allergic to smoke and we often can't go to certain places if there is smoke present, like bowling alleys (that we would normally frequent). Thank you.
