Solar Panels

Target:
Replace burning coal with Solar panels
We need to replace burning coal with solar panels because coal-generated electricity contributes significant amounts of greenhouse gases (GHG) to our atmosphere and because solar, photovoltaic panels do not contribute GHG to the air, we urge the Saint Paul Public Schools school board to begin installing solar panels on the roofs of all public schools.

The students have done a great deal of learning about energy topics this year and understand that fossil fuels are an energy source of the past. The students are wise to urge their school district to be pro-active. Solar panels will be the way to save money and prevent pollution.

Solar is the future. The sun provides more energy to the earth every minute than the entire world uses in a year! Go solar now.

Solar panels may involve a steep upfront cost, but the long term benefits would far outweigh those. If we did not use all of the electricity we generate, the power must be bought by Xcel and added to the grid, which would actually generate funding for SPPS. Lastly, we would be seen as environmental leaders, which would be beneficial for our public reputation as well as teach our students the importance of environmental stewardship. The best teaching is done by example. We should be that example.
