Help St. John Kronstadt Chapel Build A New Church

St. John Kronstadt Church was created to help homeless men who were dying of alcohol poisoning in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, New York. It started as a shelter for  homeless, alcoholic men, and grew into a Church, where people from all walks of life attend. The seed of the Church however, are formally alcoholic men who were able to renounce alcohol and turn their lives around by attending the services that the Church offered. At St. John Kronstadt's  there is liturgy and vespers every day and on Sundays, Liturgy is celebrated twice in the morning, at 7:00am and again at 10:30 am,  to capacity parishioners.

After Liturgy, people stay for molebans and panikhidas. Fr. Vadim, who started the Church/Shelter, having received  the blessing of Bishop Gabriel, of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia,  tirelessly serves his diverse community.   He also started a school for childern and for adults, in order to teach them about the Bible. The Shelter still operates and there is a desire to build a women's shelter in the future.

Currently, The Church has been under stress, because, according to authorities,  it has been improperly built.  There are fire code and building violations--the homeless men  and volunteers who help remodeled the Church did so with all faith and good intent, regularly submitting to the goverment agencies, and complying with concerns, still, a court found recently that the Church must cease operations.  St. John Kronstadt Chapel is hoping to continue to serve liturgy  until PASCHA.

The Church needs the support of the Orthodox Community to continue to provide the vital services it does to its homeless community and also to the parishioners who attend the Church.  This is a great opportunity during Lent to give a donation of $5.00 or more toward the needs of the Church.

The Church needs 1.2 million dollars to relocate, so that they can continue serving liturgy, while complying with government ageny request to demolish the current Church and to rebuild it, from scratch. If 250,000 people just gave $5.00; St. John Kronstadt Chapel will be able to continue to serve God and His people who are so desperately reliant on the existence of this Church for their spiritual and physical health.

At the moment, St. John Kronstadt Church has only $100,000 in their building fund, and for them, it seems, that Great Lent is passing quickly. Please sign this petition and pledge $5.00 to helping this Church to remain open.

Thank you.
We the Undersign, support the continued existence of the Church of the InExhaustible Cup of the Mother of God and the St. John Kronstadt Chapel, which was created to serve the homeless alcoholic men of Brighton Beach and which now has a vibrant community  of worshippers, and still serving the needs of the homeless.

We pledge at least $5.00 to support the rebuilding of the Church, and also that you be able to continue to serve liturgy for the next 12 months, while the Church and Chapel and Homeless Shelter are being rebuilt.

We pledge also to send this petition out to all our friends who may be interested in this effort.

Thank you for your time in addressing this issue.
