Ban Michael Vick from the NFL-Permanently

Ban Michael Vick from the NFL-Permanently

Target:
Roger Goodell, NFL Commissioner
Sponsored by:
Michael Vick has openly admitted to the fighting, torture, and murder of many pitbulls on his land in Virginia.  These dogs were not only fought but murdered in some of the most brutal ways-beating, drowning, hanging, and even electrocution.  For the horrible crimes that Michael Vick has committed, he was sentenced to a mere 23 months in prison, and now his lawyers are announcing that he should be out of prison and in a halfway house any day now.  This petition is to encourage the NFL to not reinstate Michael Vick into the NFL EVERProfessional Athletes are Role Models to our Nations youth, whether they want to be or not.  Young children look up to them and emulate them.  Michael Vick should never be allowed to play professional football again.  To read more about the Michael Vick dogs go to http://vault.sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1150095/index.htm

Dear Mr. Goodell,

We the undersigned believe that former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick should not be allowed to play professional football with the NFL.  It is my understanding that the NFL is considering reinstating Michael Vick as a professional football player following his release from prison.  Football players and professional athletes are supposed to be upstanding citizens, in that they are our nations role models.  If you reinstate Michael Vick as a professional football player in the NFL, it would be sending the wrong message to all Americans.  Michael Vick has admitted to the beating, drowning, hanging, and electrocution of dogs.  This is not someone who should be allowed to be a National role model.  Please take into consideration the message that this will send to the hundreds of thousands of football fans out there.  Thank you so much for your time.

I believe that anyone who abuses an animal must pay for it. Since Michael Vick is in the public eye he must be held accountable. He is a role model for young men and everyone must learn that there are harsh consequences for that type of behavior.

He's a very sick man and I don't care how LONG he stayed in prison, he needs to be punished more. Those poor dogs... He should be fought like them and feel all the pain that those animals had to face.... He doesn't deserve to have a nice comfy paycheck, he deserves to work at a shelter as a VOLUNTEER, supervised of course, and give back to the animals and society...

Michael Vick is a disgrace to himself, the NFL, Virginia Tech, and anyone associated with him. He should NEVER be allowed back in the NFL. If he is allowed to play again I will certainly NEVER watch another game or spend another nickel on tickets, souvenirs, or anything associated with the NFL.

Michael Vick should never be allowed to be a role model. Re-instating him is the same as saying, go ahead and do what you want, there are no penalties. He can find another profession.

If Pete Rose is banned from the Baseball Hall of Fame for gambling, Michael Vick should be PERMANENTLY BANNED from the NFL forever. His behavior is beyond inhumane and should not tarnish this great sport with his horrid history. Thank you for your time.

This man should not be allowed back in the NFL at all, as in NEVER. I and my family would boycott anything related to the NFL and it's sponsors. This man (and I use the term man loosely) should have been giving a sterner jail sentence for the pain and suffering he inflicted on this poor , innocent animals. Pity he couldn't be put down since he is of no value in society what so ever. To give him his multi million dollar job back would be a crime in it self. Cruelty in any form is not O K no matter what the amount of jail time served.

It's HORRIBLE what this "man" has done. I'm not an animal fanatic but believe NO living thing should have been put through this! This dog could have had a nice life with a loving family, and now after having to fight for his life and be abused, he will never get to serve his purpose in life.

Do we really want kids looking up to this guy? Allowing him back into the NFL sends the message that you can get away with torturing and killing dogs. Cruelty to animals is NOT okay.

So we're punishing Michael Vick for torturing, hurting, maiming, and killing innocent animals by allowing him a multi-million dollar NFL contract? It speaks volumes about the state of this country.

It would be a disgrace for him to play again. I think he should stay in jail permanently. Who needs a person of that type out in public. There is something wrong with him. He has no conscience.

It would be a disgrace to reinstate Michael Vick to the NFL. As an avid and loyal football fan (both college and professional), the type of behavior and judgment shown by Michael Vick is NOT acceptable. To reward him with reinstatement would be a travasty.

All professional athletes are role models for our youth. If any athlete is not capable of abiding by our laws and being of good moral character they should not be in that position. There is no acceptable excuse for anything less and it's long overdue that our society make that message very clear.

I'm tired of reading about how Michael Vick has 'suffered' and 'paid his debt to society'. He has not developed any character, or learned any lesson. Sadism, and yes, torturing an animal as it whimpers in pain, killing it slowly(and creatively) is sadism. It can not be unlearned. His 'suffering' is by his own doing, his own cruel and merciless nature. As for his 'debt,' there is nothing he can do to erase the pain of the torture and death he inflicted on those dogs. Is this what the NFL is about? Endorsing sadism and cruelty? I sincerely hope not. What ever happened to promoting strong role models? I guarantee that any team who signs this person (I can not call him a man) will face protests and boycotts of its franchise, sponsors, and all businesses connected to the ownership thereof.

Someone in his position should have realized the consequences of what he was participating in and supporting. It sickens me to think of him being let back into the spotlight of the NFL, and the NFL in effect supporting him once again becoming a role model to young kids that don't understand what he did.

Go read the blog of BAD RAP, the organization that helped evaluate the poor pit bulls at Vick's hellhole and saw the evidence of the atrocities committed against the dead ones: http://badrap-blog.blogspot.com/2009/05/op-eds-on-vick-news.html As one commenter pointed out, he wasn't just doing dogfighting. He was premeditatedly killing the "losers" in as cruel a way as possible for his own entertainment. If the NFL lets him back in, I'll be happy to join the protests every time he's in town. He's a psychopath who has gotten off way too easy and with no apparent remorse.

He is not the type of person to be a role model no matter how good a player he is. He should permanently be banned from the team. Any professional sports star should be banned from ever playing when they are convicted of these type crimes as well as DWI's when a person is injured or killed, convictions of assault or convictions of any felony charges.

Michael Vick is an offence to humanity. To allow this depraved man to exhibit himself before crowds as an athlete worthy of an audience is not something Americans should tolerate. Surely whenever he appears in public the scenes of the terrible torture and deaths of dogs by his hand will fill the minds of the audience and sully the reputation and image of the NFL and its decent players

This animal can not be forgiven for his torture. Its so despicable, the time he served was not enough. If the NFL takes him back I WILL boycott all products sponsered and will encourage all of my f and fam. to do same.He tortured and killed innocent dogs for Gods sake.

He should NEVER be allowed to play again AND should have to pay millions of dollars to all of the animal organizations that helped to save those beautiful dogs...He sickens me as a human being...this is as bad as murder of another human as far as I am concerned...there are even more sickos like him out there....You will have to be accountable for this before God someday!!!

Professional athletes are role models. Granted, some have made many mistakes in their lives (DUI's, prostitutes, etc) but animal cruelty is much more severe. It could be considered similar to domestic abuse. Children need to be reminded that this type of behavior is unacceptable, and professional athletes are no exception.

I don't support Michael Vick being reinstated into the NFL. He chose to act inhumanely towards animals that could not defend themselves. He wasn't only involved in dogfighting but bankrolled it, killed animals that did not perform and sacrificed family pets to these animals he trained to kill because he thought watching the killing was funny. He chose to engage in these behaviors which, in my opinion, is indicative of a socio pathic mentality. He may have paid his dues according to the law but he also earned the reputation of someone who is inhumane. I don't want to see him in the news, watch him on tv or witness any celebration of his football talent. He should use the degree he earned at Virginia Tech and get a job. Devoting the rest of his life to animal cruelty awareness would be a good decision on his part but shouldn't get him back into the NFL.

HELL NO! This piece of $h!t low life should not be allowed back into the NFL. He shouldn't even be out of prison! I hope that there is a God so that he can send Michael Vick to hell for all of eternity for what he has done. Someone should put him in a well lit room, strap some raw meat to his butt, and let the lions have at him. I hope he slowly suffers. Even then it isn't justification for what he has done.
