This animal control establishment, which should be loosely referred to as a %u2018shelter%u2019...is killing the animals via the cruel HEARTSTICK method of Euthansia.
We urge the Governor Deal and/or, Eldrin Bell, Chair of theClayton County Board of Commissioners, or Senators Gail Davenport, Rick Jeffares, Valencia Seay or Representatives Yasmine Neal, Joe Heckstall, Sandra Scott, Darryl Jordan, Glenn Baker or Steve Davis to intercede and investigate this shelter%u2019s cruel practices on animals.
Also the fact that most the animals that come through its doors aren%u2019t advertised not being given a chance to being adopted, as evidenced by their current PetFinder.com page which only has 11 animals up for adoption (3/26/2011) If the animals were feral it would almost be comprehensible that they%u2019re put down due to lack of space, but %u2018owner surrendered%u2019 animals are the best candidates for adoption and should be given a chance at life.
To make matters worse they are using an extremely cruel form of euthanasia, rather than the preferred method of IV injection. They%u2019re using %u2018Heartsticking%u2019, For those unfamiliar with the procedure it%u2019s when sodium pentobarbital is injected directly into the heart. To do it correctly it should be done by someone who has at least some technical veterinary training so that they know where the heart is AND the animal should be sedated first.
It is Clayton County%u2019s practice to just allow ANYONE to administer these injections while the animal is wide awake. Someone untrained usually ends up missing the heard putting the animal through a HORRIFIC end.%u2026extremely cruel.
WE THE UNDERSIGNED are pleading with you to thoroughly investigate what%u2019s going on in this so called %u2018shelter%u2019, more likely a House of Horrors.
We also need to make it known that these animals are just being discarded without being given a chance to a new life; that specific breeds are targeted for immediate destruction: Pitbulls, Chow Chows, Rottweillers and Canine Corsos. If they%u2019re strays they%u2019re put down the same day. Not even the owner is given a chance to attempt to rescue the animal.
