Despite the country’s turmoil and numerous human rights abuses, the United States Department of Defense has proposed an arms sale to Bahrain.
This is far too soon. The Bahraini government reacted with violence to protests, and only three months ago, Bahrain was placed on a list of human rights offenders needing the UN's attention. The United States should not be selling weapons to a country where the risks of violence and human rights violations are so high.
