boom car n. A car equipped with an extremely powerful stereo system that is being played with the volume and bass levels turned up and the car windows rolled down.
Noise ordinance laws do not protect citizens from the constant thumping bass coming from car stereos, even in residential areas. Please sign the petition if you agree this is a problem that needs to be recognized and addressed by Utah law makers.

I would like to start a similar petition in Sacramento. How can I do this?

Speakers that are this loud and obnoxious are intrusive. Additionally, the noise level renders the drivers incapable of hearing emergency sirens, or even a honk from a nearby car trying to alert them of a dangerous situation. Booming speakers should be outlawed. There are limits to everything.,

This is a bill that has been needed for so long. My neighborhood is full of Hummers, SUVs, Trucks, and cars with enhanced stereo systems. There was an episode last summer when one of my windows was shattered by a neighbor's car stereo system. (No joke...it cost me $500 to replace the window!)
The volume of these vehicles is detrimental to hearing and sometimes equate to a rock n' roll concert where the sound is above 120 dbs. No one would dare be next to a jet engine without hearing protection, yet these souped up stereo systems have the same effect as a jet engine or rock n' roll concert.
I wholeheartedly support the sub-woofer noise pollution in cars issue.

I've lived in the same home for 22 years and just recently, we have neighbors and their friends that have no consideration for everyone around us. I shouldn't have to consider moving because of these asses.

The town in which I went to school has become intolerable for my wife and I to live in due to the midnite thumping, and the police have encouraged us to move away from our hard-earned home - so we are moving away, but how long before THEY descend upon us in our new place?

The loud bass noise not only drives down the property value in neighborhoods where it is the most prevalant (about the last thing that would be needed right now) but it is much louder than a jack hammer. Industrial workers are protected from excessive noise from OSHA, but no one is defending children from the nerve damage they are receiving. Is it really that loud? These modern stereos actually rattle my walls. Has anyone ever seen a jack hammer do that? No.

This is a much larger problem than what it appears to be. It is actually ruining a way of life for many people every where. Here in Vegas you hear constant booming car stereos, even in residential neighborhoods at all times of the day or night. There is a social breakdown now unlike any time, where extreme rudeness seems to be the dominating force. And booming car stereos are the main cause. People who drive these cars are aggressive and anti-social and that's exactly why they do it. Major corporations like Sony, JVC etc, are backing these idiots. They are the ones who sell these units. They aren't purchased to spread joy.

Boom cars and the like not only increase noise pollution, but they are hazardous to homes (windows shaking, etc) and to children playing and possibly crossing the street to chase a ball (whom the drivers and bystanders will not be able to hear over the sound of their own music). This isn't just about noise, it's about safety!

I totally agree with this petition. I understand that people love to hear their music to its highest voltage when the feeling is good, BUT there's a point when music is inappropriate and obscene and people just don't want to hear it. It just becomes noise.
But my question is: How will this determine the volume on music of "What's considered to loud"? I enjoy listening to my music on a higher volume scale. It's also common knowledge for me to know when it's to loud. So I police myself and turn it down.
Hopefully, this goes through.
Thanks!
