STOP "COUGAR HUNTING WITH THE AID OF DOGS"
Here are the the so-called facts: There were three verified cougar sightings in the last 7 1/2 months; another couple of people think they might possibly have seen a cougar; a couple of turkeys might have been killed by a cougar; and some other farm animals might have been killed by cougars, or maybe they were killed getting tangled up in a barbed wire fence. Based on this factual evidence the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife calls for a hunt to have 40 female cougars killed. The cougars are to be hunted down by dogs, and when cornered, be shot by the hunter. All this for a bargain price of $5.48 per cougar!

Washington State is home to only 2,500 cougars. The last fatal cougar attack in Washington was reported in 1924. Since then, there have been 12 non-fatal attacks, the majority since 1992.
Please tell the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife that it unacceptable to use dogs to hunt down cougars, and that it is further intolerable to kill these cats just because some people might have seen or heard one.

We the undersigned request that you cancel the COUGAR HUNTING SEASON WITH THE AID OF DOGS, which has been scheduled to begin December 1, 2007 and last until March 31, 2008.
Cougars are having a hard time surviving in our urbanizing environment. Starting to kill cougars just because some people think they might have seen one, or because they think they might have killed life stock is unacceptable. Hunting down OUR wildlife, with or without the aid of dogs, has become intolerable in today's day and age.

with the decline of cougars , this will upset the ecological system. It is not like we don't have enough to hunt and kill...they are a beautiful animal and just let them be.
Since when a sighting by an alarmed citizen be true? As we all know well that people often mistaken a bob cat or some domestic cat to be cougar. and i am sure fear had played a large part of their imagination. so a turkey might have been taken by a possible cougar. the reasons of farm animals death cannot be taken in face value if their death was blamed on cougars. why? because people do act or even lie due to their little imagination based on fear! after all, during the period of over 7 months, only couple sighting of mountain lions were true. so please let reason and fact rule. and i am outraged for the fact that murdering or killing a cougar only costs for $5.48 ? since when such a perfect and magnificant predator's life be so cheap? how does one justify or place such low vale on a cougar's life? and you are talking about killing 40 female cougars that have not cause any death or farm to any human being at all! and that is a crime if not a sin! and it is absolutely unfair. life to all animals is the most precious. and charging only a little over five bucks in exchange of a gift only can be given by God? how arrogant can you be? and by using dogs to hunt them down so that some damn hunters or truthfully killers for fun/male ego can murder such beautiful innocent animal is immoral and cowardly. I am sure this idea was generated by those big or exotic animal hunting safari industry. your department's officials have sold the citizens of washington state out big time. did they not vote to ban hunting of cougars again and again. now using some lie or imagination by some stupid farmers whose intention is corrupted is an act of cowardice and corruption on the part of the decision makers of the department wildlife. if such blood thirsty, hateful and cowardly act is enforced, we can call all decision makers and this department corrupted! thus these men/women should be hunted down by some damn dogs and be shot by the blood thirsty and death seeking hunters.
It is a cruel. Please stop it.

I think cougar hunting is not because some turkies got killed or some farm animals but because some barbaric humans want to shoot them. The cougar is going extinct in some areas. We already wiped them out on the east side of the country by the 1880 except for a small pocket of Florida panthers who ended up in the Everglades. I believe that due to overdevelopment man has entered into the cougar's territory and must learn to co-exist with them. As for if a cougar should kill a farm animal then the goverment can reimburse them. I am really outraged by hunting cougars with dogs but believe all cougar hunting should be stopped immediately. This is cruel. These animals were here along time before us and should be able to live out their lives in peace. I think hunting is cruel and with dogs only makes it worse. I will not support anyone in Congress who doesn't stop this.
I think that cougar hunting is very wrong. How would you feel if you were hunted for your skin, and just for sheer entertainment. It's unfair. How dare people today kill God's beautiful creations for pure entertainment. It's wrong and should be illegal and anyone caught of hunting cougars should be strictly punished. Thank You.

I'm against cougar hunting. In some areas cougars in danger of extinction. Please stop this cruel and needless cougar hunting!
