Each year tens of thousands of stray animals are are hurt, abused and killed in Ukraine. Stray animals are often bludgeoned or put to death by electricity or caught using an inhumane poison and die slow, painful deaths.

We, the undersigned, call upon the Ukrainian government to stop slaughtering stray and wild animals and bring the treatment of animals in Ukraine up to the standards of Western Europe and the rest of civilized world by:

Enforce existing animal protection laws in all ukrainian regions for all ukrainian animal

Establish adequate animal shelters, operated and enforced on humane principles

Implement a nation-wide government supported spray and neuter program for stray animals

Prosecute animal abusers

Develop and implement education programs on responsible pet ownership

Develop and implement environmental education programs

Have an international animal Rights/Welfare organization continually monitor the progress towards the objectives
