We, the undersigned, call upon the Ukrainian government to stop slaughtering stray and wild animals and bring the treatment of animals in Ukraine up to the standards of Western Europe and the rest of civilized world by:
Enforce existing animal protection laws in all ukrainian regions for all ukrainian animal
Establish adequate animal shelters, operated and enforced on humane principles
Implement a nation-wide government supported spray and neuter program for stray animals
Prosecute animal abusers
Develop and implement education programs on responsible pet ownership
Develop and implement environmental education programs
Have an international animal Rights/Welfare organization continually monitor the progress towards the objectives

Please implement humane methods of managing the population of strays. Trap, neuter, release in combination with spay/neuter campaigns for pets is the only effective way. If animals must be euthanized, the least painful method, which subjects these sentient beings to the least suffering is the only acceptable alternative for civil societies.

THIS IS THE 3RD COUNTRY THAT I HAVE READ ABOUT THE SLAUGHTERING OF DOGS. I HAD NO INDEAL THAT SO MANY COUNTRIES EAT DOG. I THINK THEY NEED TO GET EDUCATED ABOUT THE BENEFITS OF HAVING DOGS AS PETS, INSTEAD OF FOR A FOOD SOURCE.

There is never a valid excuse for treating animals like this. All living and breathing animals have a right to be treated humanely. The govenment needs to step in to stop this horrid abuse. Low cost spay and neutering helps to control unwanted litters and humane euthanization, but certainly not like this.
Please work together as a community to address the problem at source with sterilisation programs, education and good vet care. A caring community is a whole community - work for comapssion not cruelty.

I viewed the link provided with the petition - this is worse than I thought! Their is video of animals being abused! This is an outrage! I thought the Ukraine was better than this to animals - but I was wrong and know better know. PLEASE STOP THIS ABUSE! |
