Stop the bloody tradition of the Faroe Islands

Target:
The European Parliament
Sponsored by:

This petition has been created to target to the horrible bloody practice, which is still taking place in the heart of the European Union and which belongs to the middle ages but not to the modern society. Every November inhabitants of Faroe Islands* come to the sea to teach their sons to kill. The subject of this millennium tradition, aimed to make men out of boys, are confiding and very human-friendly dolphins - 1500 animal units every year. We feel confident, that such cruelty towards the fauna is absolutly unacceptable in the 21.th century in the face of the massive damages of the civilization.  The policy of European Union has ever been humane towards the environment and dumb animals. That is why we kindly invoke you to oppose the tradition that is so blood curdling for modern human being.

* Faroe Islands are the autonomy within the Kingdom of Denmark, is a part of Denmark, but has the right to decide on almost every internal and external case since 1948.Denmark retains the control and responsibility for the external policyand annually ensures the provision of financial resources to the economy of Islands.

Dear Sirs,

Every November inhabitants of Faroe Islands come to the sea to teach their sons to kill. The subject of this millennium tradition, aimed to make men out of boys, are confiding dolphins - 1500 animal units every year. It is customary to go to the butchery by whole families, even with little children. Fathers and brothers proudly say that some day they become as brave as they are.

The dolphins are killed with the special cruelty - engaged by harpoon sand then are cut alive by pieces. One third of animal are pregnant females. They start to bear because of awful tortures - then their stomachs are ripped up to kill both mother and child.

Multiple claims of citizens and relevant organizations to the queen of Denmark to stop it gave no result. The policy of European Union has ever been humane towards the environment and dumb animals. That is why we kindly invoke you to oppose the tradition that is so blood curdling for modern human being.

We thank you in the name of the all civilized world for taking time to read this petition!

Please stop KILLING the dolphins! A man is not measured by how many animals he can kill. But a man is measured by how many animals he can honor by allowing to live!

I think that it is a very important and serious problem for our environment and we should try to stop this madness! My point of view that innocent animals should not suffer because of cruelty of people. We can stop this crime!!!

There was once a long standing tradition amongst certain cultures to hunt and kill aboriginal people, there was once a long standing tradition amongst certain cultures to hunt and kill Christians, there was once a long standing tradition amongst certain cultures to hunt and kill black people, There was once a long standing tradition amongst certain cultures to hunt and capture African people and use them as slave,.......and the list goes on forever. Sometimes though there comes a time where one must abandon traditions because it become apparent that they where very wrong and self serving in the first place. Thank the universe that we humans have been given the ability to learn and grow. I'm very tired of people using tradition as an excuse to wield power over a weaker element.

Please see these beautiful creatures as fellow beings and do better unto them. Search your hearts, you will know that what you do to them is not right.

Its time to come out of the dark ages. that such a practice exists in the midst of a so-called 'civilised' world is a shame to all humanity.

Dolphins are like baby's they don't even heart a small human baby even if they left alone. Whatever happening in Denmark is against human relations with animals.
