Stop the consumption of the Ortolan Bunting.

Over the next two weeks, up to 50,000 birds are to be captured  and sold to chefs and gourmets as far away as New York, despite a ban on their sale. An ortolan, which weighs roughly 25g (less than one ounce) can fetch more than  %u20AC100  (%uFFFD80) on the international black market.
This happens every year in September as the birds migrate back to Africa, using live traps set in the countryside of Southern France.
Although the capture of the ortolan has been illegal in France for more than a decade, hunting as an "age-old tradition" is tolerated semi-officially in the Landes, south of Bordeaux.
Ortolans are, by Gascon tradition, served whole and aflame. Only the feet are removed, although some chefs are now said to take off most of the feathers. By tradition an ortolan must be eaten with a large white napkin draped over the diner's head. Some experts say this is intended to heighten the intensity of the experience.

Please help stop this ''tradition'' by telling Monsieur Jean Louis Borloo (France's Minister for Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and Marine Affairs, responsible for Green Technology and Climate Negotiations) what you think of this awful practice.
Thank you.
Monsieur Jean Louis-Borloo,

We the undersigned feel strongly about this issue.  More than 50,000 birds are captured each year, using live traps as they migrate south for the winter.
The Ortolan is an important bird to Frances ecosystem and it is in decline over much of Europe.
We ask that you strengthen the law and that you ban the practice completely.

Sincerely,
