Please consider the following four points of contention with regard to this bill:
1) The MOTHERS Act will assuredly increase prescriptions for antidepressants for both postpartum and pregnant mothers. Based on the FDA's MedWatch Adverse Events Reporting System data, over the past four years the estimated number of antidepressant-caused infant deaths and injuries was as follows:

Only after she was treated with drugs documented by the FDA to cause suicidal ideation did she jump out of that window.
4) Numerous victims have spoken out against this bill, including many who currently have pending lawsuits against drug companies for deaths and birth defects. In addition, there are literally thousands of antidepressant birth defects and suicide lawsuits pending. States are suing drug manufacturers for illegal marketing of psychotropic drugs, and the State of Alaska is being sued for drugging children in state care. If the Federal Government sponsors another drugging program, it is simply asking for lawsuits to be filed, as more mothers are injured and more babies killed.
What could possibly justify the risks that The MOTHERS Act poses to unborn babies and their mothers? I have also been a victim of psychotropic drugs. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 20 years ago and was put on these drugs to treat it. They prevented me from being able to work in a highly technical position. I continued to get worse until I was diagnosed with dementia and parkinson's! At that point I started doing my own research which resulted in my going to an Integrative Medicine doctor, who after extensive testing discovered Lyme disease and five co-infections. After two years on natural antibiotics and natural treatments with supplements, I am completely well. Now I am having a difficult time getting back to work, which I desperately need now that I am going to LIVE, because these diseases are still listed on my records with the WRONG diagnoses from those Allopathic doctors. Those psychiatric drugs I was on made recovering from Lyme a nightmare. Lyme attacks the nervous system and brain. Having brain chemicals being given to me through drugs made it almost impossible for me to deal with the lyme treatments. I perservered and am now COMPLETELY WELL - but still stuck with those old diagnoses! And I have no idea how I am going to get rid of them! It affects my getting health insurance big time and may even prevent me from getting a job AT ALL!

I had been wrongfully diagnosed for almost 20 years, and maltreated for the length of it by the psychiatric systems near me. I have healed 100% from my former illness or issues WITH OUT the use of psychotropic drugs. There is so much pressure on women and even children to take medications, this is unnecessary and highly unhealthy. New moms and pregnant or yet to be pregnant people need alternatives to medications, medications will collect in the mothers body and be transferred straight to the unborn fetus or the newborn baby in the mothers breast milk. If a woman is not suicidal then there should be other options given which will not harm her innocent child. My children were taken because of the greedy and obsessive nature of this oligarchical and pervasive psychiatric machine, unable to accept that one of their former captors had healed 100% completely without them! I was punished, treated like an enemy, disregarded, ignored, my children were taken like prisoners of war and given to total strangers in the year of 2003 and 2004, and I have not seen them since the visits I was "permitted" during the first year or so of their lives. I have been mentally healed since 1997. I have found many doctors to confirm this 100% in the last few years. The people who want to pass this bill don't care aobut you or your children, they are thinking about money and control and that is it, and I say they have way too much already. One of the biggest dangers of the mothers act is that it will further legitimate drugging fetuses and babies through the mothers body, rather than offering real therapies that can heal a person's emotional needs and issues over the long term. This is going to cause more and more problems down the line. There is no SIMPLE solution, so don't use this act like a bandaid, and lose sight of the real problme therefore not allowing for the real answers to arise. Please reconsider giving the psychiatric and pharmocological fields any more power and influence than they have already, they are already labeling our children with every manner of mental and developmental disability, but are they takiing any responsiility at all for how much of this they may be causing themselves through their methods?
