Do you remember the movie The Nightmare before Christmas? Unless some unexpected miracle happens, this will definitely be a reality for many cats and animal lovers in Spain.
La Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (Madrid University) has been a home for, approximately, more than 100 feral cats for many years now. Not only all of these beautiful felines have been properly fed and looked after, but also neutered, spayed and rehomed. And everything seemed to work symbiotically until the university rector decided (who knows why) that people who so selflessly look after them will be denied full access to all facilities.
This person has also given two days' notice to 'remove' all the animals before 'the cavalry' arrives (kennel staff).
Obviously it is IMPOSSIBLE not only to track down more than 100 cats around campus, but to find homes for all of them at such short notice. This felines have been sentenced to die of starvation at Christmas time!!!!!
Apparently, UAM is classed among the best 200 universities in the world and also 'pays particular attention to the environment, and is proud of its efforts towards attaining an environmentally sustainable campus' . What kind of hypocrite example of awareness, love and education are they setting?
While all animal lovers in Madrid are fighting against time to stop this madness, I ask you to please help these cats. Sign this petition and send an e-mail to UMA before it's too late. (E-mail: informacion.general@uam )
Bring these people to their senses!. Maybe there's only one language they can understand: money. Boycott this University, make them feel guilty and ashamed!!! Many international students come to UAM. Spread the word!!! No modern, educated, sensitive student should ever set foot in this campus!!!
We cannot let this creatures die! We need a Christmas miracle! Please, HELP THEM!
