We the undersign would appreciate it if the City Council of Penang would take into consideration to humanely euthanize and not shoot the stray animals and also to collaborate with local animal shelters to give the strays a possible chance of being rehomed.

surely this is just another form of animal cruelty, and the people responsible for it should be made to face their wrong doing, after a recent trip to penang i was alarmed at the lack of respect animals in this country receive, not just dogs, starved horses with bones pertruding from every angle are walked up and down the beach for money all day long these pigs who abuse animals should be jailed.

Killing stray dogs is morally wrong. It is not going to yield any result. The best way to tackle this problem is to vaccinate & steralize dogs so that they cannot multiply. Malaysian Municipality should learn from Indian/Mumbai Munipality. They killed millions of dogs just to find that their territory was taken up the lower ranking/inferior local breed dogs. Indian Muncipality just like Thailand has taken a different direction along with help of public-private partnership. They ve started vaccinating and sterilization program which is yielding amazing results. (http://www.thaiwave.com/atigaro/). Vaccination and Steralization is the only long-term effective solution!

Recently (17-Sept-2008) I witness, action by Kulim Kedah Veterinary officers, tranquilize several dogs and killing poor dogs by suffocating them in a garbage bags. This act is truly in human. This act is done by the Veterinary department’s enforcement officers at Kulim , Kedah on 17-Sept-2008.
