Stop The Sponsored Murder of Wolves

Three organizations are sponsoring the killing of wolves with incentives to ‘get out in the field.’ The Safari Club International states that it’s “dedicated to conserving wildlife” but then adds “and preserving hunting” directly after it. Gray wolves have been in danger for years. They say that the wolves are predators that prey on the herds and kill livestock, so in other words, this extended hunting season on the wolves is about one thing and one thing only: MONEY. The wolves were here a long time before the humans and their cattle. We are on the wolves land, not the other way around. These people are essentially declaring that the eradication of one species to save another is okay, because the animals being ‘preserved’ are commodities. No. One life is not worth more than the other. The American wolves need to be protected and saved. Like every other being on this planet, they are sacred. They deserve to live on the land that they have existed on for thousands of years; it’s what’s naturally correct and just. How many other species are to be hunted and driven from their habitats as the human population keeps exploding, and continues to waste land to raise livestock, so they may consume flesh and blood? Enough is enough. Since the wolves cannot shoot back to defend themselves, or write politicians; we must stand for them. The claim that the wolf population is rampant and overpopulated is a COMPLETE FABRICATION. Wildlife preservers, foresters and hunters alike have been saying that even locating a wolf is difficult do to the low numbers of actual wolves in the wild.

The Montana Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife have this absurd quote on their website; “The introduction of the Canadian Grey Wolf into Northern Rocky Mountains was a wildlife management experiment which has gone horribly wrong. The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation calls it "one of the worst wildlife management disasters since the destruction of bison herds".”

The disaster they are referring to is in reference to the loss of revenue that the livestock herders face when a hungry wolf prays of the penned in livestock on the factory farms. Again, this extermination of the wolves is routed in money, that is the driving factor. If humans didn’t raise and cage in animals for consumption, this wouldn’t be an issue. "The number one reason we decided to do this was to encourage people to get out in the woods and hunt wolves," said Jon Wemple, president of the Safari Club's Western Montana Chapter.”

The RCFWA’s Tony Jones has been quoted saying, "I think it's a good idea to have as many incentives out there as possible if that's what it's going to take to reduce wolf numbers," he said. "When you consider that hunters have a chance to win a wolf rug and a rifle and get $100, that's quite a bit of incentive to get out there."

Here are three organizations that are offering incentives to kill wolves and their contact information.

     1) Safari Club International Western Montana Chapter

    http://www.fivevalleyschaptersci.org/

The Western Montana SCI is offering a free wolf ‘rug’ made from the skin of a murdered wolf this hunting season.

You can contact chapter president Jon Wemple at 406-369-1771 or vice president Matt Ulberg at 406-531-1142. Email at info@westernmtsci.org

     2) The Ravalli County Fish and Wildlife Association

    http://www.rcfwa.org/

The RCFWA is offering the chance to win a rifle or a tanning and rugging of a “harvested” wolf by submitting pictures of wolves murdered this season.

Contact Tony Jones at 406-381-0587 or Linda Habeck at 406-961-1435 to protest the sponsored killing of the wolves.

Further contact: PO Box 238 Hamilton, Montana 59840

     3) The Montana Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife

    http://www.mt-sfw.org/

The SWF is offering a cash prize photo contest for hunters to submit photos of massacred wolves. Their entire site is rather arrogant and atrocious.

We the undersigned, seek to restore the rights of Wolves to roam free as a protected species. This extermination of the wolves is routed in money, that is the driving factor. Enough is enough. The above organizations are essentially declaring that the eradication of one species to save another is okay, because the animals being ‘preserved’ are commodities. No. One life is not worth more than the other. The American wolves need to be protected and saved. Wolves are an endangered species because of hunting and habitat loss.
