I want to be able to convince you that there is a BIG waste of food in our country. I have worked for McDonald's and Wal-Mart...McDonald's one of the biggest MONEY making restaurants in America and Wal-Mart probably the largest grocery store in America. Yet FOOD WASTE seems to mean NOTHING at all to people who are making money, have one of the largest chains of stores in America and other countries, and who use FOOD WASTE as a write off every year.
Yet, There are starving people all over the world. There are poor people in every corner, of every town, of every state in America and other Countries. But yet who cares?!?!?! I eat three times a day...Not my lose! We need to stop and consider that its not easy growing a farm, selling farm food and then to just see it thrown in the trash in a very few hours. We need to start giving this THROWN AWAY FOOD to people who are poor and don't have much. Places like Wal-Mart and your local food stores need to be told that they NEED to STOP WASTING.
Let them know!!!! If everyone, in every town, in America would let their stores know how they feel about it than something will be done!!

We waste so much in our society. 2/3rds of energy we produce actually makes it to our outlets, on top of that the little energy that does make it and isn't lost in the transportation we waste here at home. Food, mass amounts of food is thrown out every day while many are sitting on the streets dreaming about a sandwhich. Our food waste situation is something that we can address now head on and so many would beniefit, not to mention our earth would greatly beniefit. Food not bombs, food shelters, Gleaners, and mannnny other organizations are out there! We just need to spread the word, start a chapter, why is habitat for humanity so well known and anti-food waste organizations not? I rather know my local food not bombs chapter is going to feed me a warm veggie meal twice a week than have a little shelter over my head that i worked my ass of for. -not to say habitat isn't a great organization, just that organizations that pass on wasted food is so much easier and can impact so many peoples lives.

Ive been blessed when I was done and out a large grocery store in Minneapolis MN gave away bread every day of the week. It allowed me to budget for other things when I didnt have to buy bread. I see walmart and other big box stores throwing away so much. I wish we could stop them and maybe give to second harvest.

I know how much even small stores throw away as we have gone dumpster diving to feed our pigs that we raise.. It is truly a crime that stores can't just have an isle that is stocked with food they would otherwise throw out that night...In some countries I have heard they are allowing food markets to sell fruit & veggies a bit past there peek , But for lower prices in an attempt to help world hunger... In the USA I know it is more about probably the FDA an there rules an regs against re selling or giving stuff away but this really needs to change... Someday there might really be shortages not just to the poor but to all of us on food , And then where will we all be.
