Stranger Among Bears: Animal Planet...Support Charlie!

Stranger Among Bears is a show that has recently aired on Animal Plant. Charlie is a man that may be criminally charged by the State of Alaska because he chooses to feed wild black bears and grizzly bears on his own personal property. He has a summer home that is in a remote area of Alaska. The only way to travel to his summer home is by plane. The State of Alaska recently passed a law that it is illegal to feed wild bears. This law is understandable in city limits, but should not be enforced on someone that lives outside of city limits. The law regarding feeding bears should be changed and should not be enforceable outside of city limits.

It should not be up to the State if a person chooses to feed wild animals on their own personal property. This petition is to support Charlie with his efforts to be at one with nature and wildlife. It should be a personal decision that one makes and not the decision of the State.

Of course no one wants a wild animal to become dependent on a food source when they still have to live in the wild, but Charlie feeds the bears so that they come to vist him when he is there is there in the summer time. The bears still have to fight and find food on their own as well. They by no means appear to be tame. He enjoys being able to watch and interact with the bears. It is amazing that his has this ability to interact with them.

Thank you Animal Planet for sharing such a great story with the public.

We the undersigned believe that it is a personal decision whether or not to feed wildlife outside of city limits. This petition is in response to a series that was run on Animal Planet: Stranger Among Bears.

Charges should not be filed against Charlie for his personal decision to be at one with nature and wildlife. It should not be against the law to feed wildlife on your own personal property outside of city limits.

Thank you for reconsidering this issue.
