SUPPORT CALF PASTURE SHOWERS

Norwalk citizens were betrayed. The doors to the shower rooms we appreciated and  maintained for years were locked without warning.  To replace the loss, the Parks and Recreation Dept. has budgeted the installation of 5 new outdoor private showers. The Director of Finance has deleted this item.  The shower installation will be reconsidered at the March meeting of the full City Council.  Signatures will make the difference between approval and rejection.
We the undersigned respectfully remind the Council that Norwalk has for decades been under administrations that understood the importance of cleanliness to citizen health.  The bronze plaque mounted under the Calf Pasture arch mentions specifically that the1993 grant by the State of Connecticut was for a bathhouse --  compensation for our storm- damaged shower facilities,   Norwalkers were betrayed when the bathhouse doors were chained closed with no warning.  The Parks and Recreation Department's budgeting of  5 new shower stalls to replace those that have been closed to public use restores an essential amenity. Former Councils were aware that people with salt on their skin and sand in their suits require a proper shower. We appreciate your taking the time to consider our basic needs.
