The Warren County Board of Supervisors is purposing to cut 25% to 50% of Cornell Cooperative Extension's budget for the 2010 program year.  This is a drastic cut in funding which needs to be reconsidered.
We the undersigned are in support of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Warren County, NY to receive full funding from the Warren County Board of Supervisors.

Cornell Cooperative Extension has served the communities in Warren County since 1916 as a partnership with Cornell University, United States Department of Agriculture, New York State and Warren County.  Through its mission statement, Extension’s educational system enables people to improve their lives and communities through partnerships that put experience and research knowledge to work.

The Warren County Board of Supervisors would like to cut 25%-50% of Cornell Cooperative Extension budget.  This is a drastic cut which will affect educational programming in all three of the core program areas of 4-H Youth Development, Agriculture and Natural Resources and Family and Consumer Sciences.

Please reconsider such at tremendous reduction in Cooperative Extensions funding.

As president of the Board of Directors of Cornell Cooperative Extension, I know how dedicated the entire staff is to the people of our communities. As elected officials, you made promises to help our people. Let us help you fulfill your promises by allowing us to continue to meet the needs of the people of Warren County. Please don't cut our budget. It will effect everyone, including you.

Do not cut Cornell Coop's budget, the Fish Hatchery Budget or Meals on Wheels. We all know there are other areas that can be cut, especially the railroad.

The positive impact CCE has on our community is so great, that a massive void would be faced should it lose funding. Please do not cut our local CCE! The parenting programs, budgeting, EatSmart programs, creative projects for the kids, and other local interest programs are a great resource for our local community. As a former 4-H'er, I can speak from experience, these programs are a necessity in small communities such as ours - to lose them would invite possible undesirable consequences as our youth will have to find other 'creative' (ie, detrimental) ways to use their time. Surely there are other areas of the budget that can be trimmed to spare CCE.

CCE provides essential programs for youth and families of Warren County. Eliminate the wasteful spending, not 4H.
