The cat overpopulation in Niagara has reached epidemic proportions and is not being addressed by traditional methods of control; there are a number of reasons why this crisis exists, such as irresponsible and abusive behaviour towards these vulnerable and defenceless animals; but also at the root of the problem is the lack of affordable spay/neuter services such as are presently operating successfully in Newmarket and Barrie; such facilities can perform over 5000 surgeries per year...which greatly reduces the widespread cases of unwanted litters as well as address issues related to strays and ferals; a humane and caring society cannot rely solely on the established groups and stakeholders who are overwhelmed by this escalating problem; as a member of a caring and compassionate community we ask for your signature of support in our efforts to make a high volume, low cost spay/neuter clinic a reality here in the Niagara Region.
