Support Reverend Scott Rennie

Target:
People who believe that sexuality plays no part in a persons suitability for a job
Sponsored by:
People who believe that sexuality plays no part in morality, and that the appointment of an openly gay minister sends a message of inclusion to all people.
People who believe that sexuality plays no part in morality, and that the appointment of an openly gay minister sends a message of inclusion to all people.

We the undersigned support Reverend Scott Rennie in his appointment as minister at Queens Cross Church, Aberdeen along with the congregation of Queens Cross Church, who voted overwhelmingly in favour of his appointment as their leader. Irrespective of our religious beliefs we believe that the appointment of the minister to Queens Cross Church is a matter for that congregations determination and that homophobia, clearly displayed by those in opposition to his appointment, has no place in modern society.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter, and supporting Queens Cross Church in their determination to appoint Scott Rennie as their minister

I am a Christian I believe we are made as God intended. As an aside, ALL start life in the womb as female! Surprise? So Eve (girl) comes first then Adam,(boy)may develop. I am hetrosexual but champion sanity and the oppressed. The bible may be inspired by God but it was written at a time when people did not know as much about human development with knowledge should come understanding not bigotry, we were given reason to use. It is not resaonable for anyone in their right mind to choose a lifestyle that can meet with hositility from the igonorant. At times homosexuals lose family, friends, home, job when they reveal they are 'gay'. For me sexuality is not an issue and I doubt it is Gods! W are asked to love tenderly and live justly, peace and blessings Rita

It is time that the church followed The Christ whom it professes to serve; Jesus had NOTHING to say about sexuality, but quite a lot to say about hypocrisy...

I have known the Rev for many years and have enjoyed this services and the manner he shows the world in a more positive way I can remember all the times I have heard him speaking and it always makes me smile and think of the world in a brighter way if more people were like the Rev Scott Rennie then the world truly would be a better place for it. Only of late have I found out of his sexual inclination and it does not affect my view of him anyways he did the church *Cathedral* proud and anyone who says different clearly was not watching the same man. Personally I am more saddened by the loss of The Rev to our local Community but our loss is the gain of somewhere else.

I find it ridiculous in this day and age that this sort of thing should even be debated. I'm sure there are plenty of LGBT folk that are doing great jobs elsewhere in their communities. Those that appear to be in favour in indiscrimination are in fact discriminating themselves. What happened to equality and dignity of the spirit?

I have struggled for over 40 years with being gay and having even been married until 2 months ago. I fully support the Rev Scott Rennie I am a practising Christian, and believe in a God who has made as all as he has made us and that being gay is just the way some of us are.

Rev Rennie's capacity to work in his parish will only be enhanced if he is allowed the freedom to live his life to the full. He has my full support and well done to his own congregation for being so supportive.

there is absolutely no reason why a persons sexuality should be of interest to employers even those within the church.

a quote by Eva Heymann speaking about the care & love between 2 men she knew, one of whom was dying of HIV in the early '90s. " When you see love like that & then you hear cries of ' get rid of the gays' that's when you think 'whose side am I on?' Well I know whose side I'm on: I'm on the side of love" I wish you the best.

I am a Scot, living in Kent these past seven and a half years. I am a Gay Christian, who last year was rejected for lay readership on the grounds of my sexuality. Well done Scott. I imagine you have had a very stressful time recently, but the rainbow shines through the conservative glass ceiling of the C of S.

I am sincere in my belief that God would welcome Scott Rennie as his representative and it's quite shameful that in this century people can be so negative towards anyone who is different from their perception as to what is defined as 'acceptable'. If your doctor dentist or lawyer was a 'gay' person would you avoid their services? God made the human race with all its differences and he is wiser than anyone else so please welcome this young man in the true spirit of a Christian assembly.

For the past 9 years the Rev Scott Rennie has ministered at Brechin Cathedral with not a word of comment from those that now oppose his appoitment at Queens Cross. What has prompted thier sudden concern? Why was the fact that he is openly gay not of importance last year or the year before that?

How fantastic for Aberdeen ... the place of my birth .... ! I have always felt that 'us Aberdonians'...need to be challenged in our beliefs and prejudices...and therefore I am so pleased that the Rev Scott Rennie has now been 'officially appointed. ' Bless you in your pastoral journey ...and I celebrate the arrival...of acceptance, difference, diversity, peace, love, ..tolerance ..and understanding ......how refreshing ..... !

Religion is there to give people hope and refuge. How can a religion be so contradictory and judgemental? If somebody is willing to give themself to a religion, they should not be questioned. Christianity needs to modernize. If it did, it'd probably encourage the younger generation to get more involved.

Rev Rennie was the Vicar for our school for many years and I have never attended nor seen hundreds of school aged children have fun and learn more than at his services. What happens in his very private area of his life is of no concern or business of anybody but himself. I wish him well.
