Support Watermans 100%

Target:
1000
Sponsored by:

Watermans has been threatened by the Arts Council with the loss of its grant. This would come into effect almost immediately so we would have to make immediate cut-backs in our programme.

The people of West London will lose nearly £500,000 that would be spent on Participative Arts, New Media Arts and Asian Arts

We have been advised that the Arts Council is on very shaky ground with this decision and a large show of popular support will help our appeal.

If you would like to see Watermans get its grant reinstated please support us by lending your name to our campaign

Watermans has been a godsend over many years in the cultural wasteland of this part of London. Something for everybody, please don't take it away.

Waterman's has consistently provided an excellent film programme, including foreign language films that are otherwise not shown locally. Losing this facility will be a serious blow to the area. The Arts Council decision is disgraceful.

Agree that the Arts Council decision is just wrong, funding for these sorts of projects plays a role in community development.

We have been using the cinema for many years to enjoy a wide range of films at reasonable prices and would be sad to see it go. It is a fixed part of our social life.

Waterman's is the only theatre within reasonable reach of our home. Its children shows are a real treat for my daughters. If Waterman's closes I cannot imagine how they are going to have the magical experience of going to the theatre (except for exorbitantly priced pantomines, I suppose).

The Arts Council decision is just wrong - little enough subsidy anyway.

As regular visitors of Waterman's for more than 20 years my wife and I would very much regret any further curtailment or possible closure of its operations.

Having just discovered the Watermans Centre and enjoyed a great Sunday there, a mixture of hospitality and culture, this type of venue should be supported and any attempt to stop its closure will have my full support.

There are generations of young Asians in Britain who are confused about their identity, and places like Waterman's with its commitment to Asian arts help these youth understand their place in the UK.

Places like this should be cherished & supported. it gives us an oppurtunity to see arts that do not always get the glamour of the west end... but they are accessible & so valued in enriching our lives.

Just as Brentford emerges from the gloom, its key arts centre is threatened, clearly a dereliction of duty by the Arts Council

Waterman's is a good place for being able to experience different types of entertainment and it would be a shame if it could no longer operate.

I'm so impressed by the activities offered for young children at Watermans and it would be a catastrophe if it were to be no more, especially as there is nothing similar in the near vicinity.

The Waterman's Arts Centre is an excellent facilty that serves a diverse community. It is exactly the sort of place the Arts Council should be funding!

A wonderful local facility with a diverse range of activities for myself and my family. It offers unique programmes, which the main stream venues aren't interested in. It needs supporting.

The ONLY service like this in an area with the population of Hounslow and they're removing support? This is mad.

I'm a regular at the Watermans Art Centre and think it is disgraceful how they have been treated by The Arts Council.

I live in Germany now but when I grew up in the Isleworth area regularly went to Waterman's art centre and enjoyed what was on offer. This centre thoroughly deserves to be supported!!
