Support Whitefish Chickens

As a show of support please sign the following petition to allow amendment of Whitefish city code, as seen below, to allow up to 3 hens (no roosters) as "pets" within city limits under pending regulatory conditions as yet to be determined (necessity of a coop, limited to single family dwelling, square footage restrictions etc.).

Currently, in order to have chickens in WR-2 zone (for eggs, food, garden manure etc.) you must apply for a conditional use permit (subject to bordering neighbor approval during a written comment period) that costs around $350. This is prohibitively expensive for many people attempting to create a more self sustaining lifestyle. The proposed amendment would bypass that permit for up to 3 hens.

Thanks for your support and please forward this to as many people as you know that would like to support this.

1. Section 11-9-2 definition be, potentially, amended to:

"LIVESTOCK:  Horses, bovine animals, sheep, goats, swine, donkeys, mules, chickens and fowl (excepting the keeping of three (3) or less female chickens as pets), and all wild animals."
To Whom It May Concern,

Please find attached a show of support from local citizens for allowing amendment of the Whitefish city codes to allow up to 3 hens in WR-2 zoning in the interests of promoting sustainable living etc. Thanks for your consideration in this matter.
