Support Jesse Forrey! Enough is Enough!

Target:
Ramsey County Attorney Susan Gaertner, Ramsey Co Judge Paulette Flynn
The State of Minnesota, Ramsey County and City of Saint Paul have taken Jesse Forrey away from his family and friends for 8 months and counting without him being found guilty of any crime. As he invokes his rights under the Constitution he has been punished by the courts, forced to remain across the continent from his home, loved ones and his way of life. Using the power of the court to emotionally damage and intimidate someone is not acceptable. 8 plus months Jesse has managed to live separated from his home, contributing and volunteering in the Twin Cities as he awaits trial. The offered maximum sentence for his charge was 180 days, yet the State still forces him to live in exile, and demands jail time. We say enough is enough! Let his time be served, send him home!

We the undersigned hereby request that you release Jesse Forrey from Minnesota and allow him to return to his life as a beloved, contributing citizen of California. We ask this of you with the understanding that he has already politely and dutifully spent over twelve (12) months processing and learning from the events of September, 2008 and spent over eight months doing time away from his friends and family. Thank you for your time and for having the compassion to what is right.

Jesse has touched so many of our lives. We have felt an irreconcilable absence while Jesse has been going through the court process in Minneapolis. His spot here at home in Santa Cruz cannot be filled by anyone else. Please send Jesse home as soon as possible.

I met Jesse two years ago when our bands played a show together in Portland, and have gotten to know him better this past year in Minneapolis. He gives so much to the communities he is involved in, with his music, words, friendships, and gentle presence. Please let Jesse go home-- putting him in jail would be punishment to all of the many people who benefit from his gifts.

I have known jesse for a long time and strongly believe that he does not deserve to go to jail. He is a very kind, loving, individual who enriches the lives of those around him. It's hard for me to imagine him as a hardened criminal.

I know Jesse through his being a good friend of my daughter and have visited with him at my home on several occasions when he, she, and others of their friends were passing through my area. I have always been impressed with Jesse's upbeat personality, ready smile, and ongoing efforts to always positively assist whatever community he is a part of. I unwaveringly support his being given as lenient a sentence as possible.

We know Jesse as Rivers, and he has had a profound positive influence on my children and our school's community with his hat-making and banjo playing. I appeal to those who are in a position to sentence him to be mindful that he is a gentle, creative, and outspoken soul who is not afraid to express his thoughts. His kind of behavior needs to be cultured, not condemned.

Jesse is an ex-coworker of mine and has always displayed kindness and compassion, he played with my daughter and the children of many others in our community and is all in all a wondeful human being. There are many terrible people out there who DESERVE to go to jail and Jesse is surley not one of them.A year away is long enough, send him home.

Jesse is a good friend and active community member here in Santa Cruz. His work on community building, organizing of relationship discussion groups, community child care and free community education has played an important role in keeping Santa Cruz a vital, growing, supportive place for myself and many others. His active contribution has been sorely missed in these many months. I ask you to please let Jesse come home to his family and community who have been suffering without him.

I've always known Jesse James to be a kind and compassionate person. The process of the trial has taken enough away from his life and that of his community already.

Mr. Forrey has been punished by the process of "legal prosecution". A sad remnant of the police state, I have attended cases and on one occasion, been punished with prosecution myself, Innocent after having to attend eleven days in courts and weeks of discussion and planning with attorneys for my defense...I was innocent but still lost the court and preparation time without any credit or compensation for lost pay, time and out of pocket expenses. This aspect of the "justice" system punishes anyone charged, whether found guilto or innocent and is not reasonably considered prior to sentencing. I urge you to consider this imbalance in justice and give Mr. Forrey full credit for the punishment imposed by the system, prior to any verdict, when you consider s possible jail sentence in this case. Sincerely, William McIntosh

A true case of the punishment not fitting the supposed crime. People were once respected for their passion and those who stood up were the true patriots. Let him return home.

When one person's frustration over an ongoing war, in which the rules of conduct have been rewritten (unconstitutionally) to allow the use of torture, brims over and he damages propoerty, justice is scandalized. You're honor's halls to not seem so interested to prove firmness when those (Jon Yoo, Alberto Gonzales, John Ashcroft) responsible for manufacturing legal argumentations for torture, and those giving orders to carry it out, are taking prestigious seats in the Law Schools and collecting honoraria in the lecture circuits of the country. Were I sitting at the bench, I would feel nothing but shame for my profession and remorse for the state of the legal system in which these disparities perdure.

Jesse is so loved and missed here in Santa Cruz. Being forced to stay in a place you don't want to be IS "jail". He's already served his time. Please send him home.

Jesse James Forey is a friend and former co-worker of mine; I have witnessed his care for his friends and his love for the children of our community. If the court foolishly finds Forey guilty, please remember that he is wanted and needed at home in Santa Cruz, and be lenient with sentencing.
