SWIFT ACTION

CASUALTY OF WAR In an unprovoked attack captured on film, the Japanese security ship Shonan Maru No. 2 deliberately rammed and caused catastrophic damage to the Sea Shepherd catamaran Ady Gil. Six crew crewmembers, four from New Zealand, one from Australia, and one from the Netherlands were immediately rescued by the crew of the Sea Shepherd ship Bob Barker. None of the crew Ady Gil crew were injured. The Ady Gil is believed to be sinking and chances of salvage are very grim. According to eyewitness Captain Chuck Swift on the Bob Barker, the attack happened while the vessels were dead in the water. The Shonan Maru No. 2 suddenly started up and deliberately rammed the Ady Gil ripping eight feet of the bow of the vessel completely off. According to Captain Swift, the vessel does not look like it will be saved. %u201CThe Japanese whalers have now escalated this conflict very violently,%u201D said Captain Paul Watson. %u201CIf they think that our remaining two ships will retreat from the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary in the face of their extremism, they will be mistaken. We now have a real whale war on our hands now and we have no intention of retreating.

Honorable Sirs,
We are very concerned with the recent developments in the Southern Arctic Whale Sanctuary. No member of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society has ever hurt or attempted to hurt a Japanese Sailor. They have gone as far as offering to help when one of Japanese crew was lost at sea. This is not the case with the current situation. The Japanese Whalers have not just hurt the Sea Shepherds they have attempted murder by ramming the boat Ady Gil and then hit the dazzed crew with their water cannons. They are boasting about this and it is a crime for a sea fairing vesel.

We are asking you to take immediate action. The Japanese are not only breaking the law they are laughing in the face of an Hornorable Government such as the Australian Government.

The Japanese have done nothing but lie and decieve the Australian Government with their actions. They will continue to do this as long as they are allowed.

We are asking for swift action against the Japanese Government. They would have done the same if the situation was reversed. Lives of sailors have been compromised and this is not acceptable in any nation.

In closing we ask you to take immediate action,

Sincerely,
