Teach our Kids to be Green!

Tell our secretary of Education, Arne Duncan that being green and what students can do to help the environment should be part of the national science curriculum.
Dear Arne Duncan,
We the undersigned would like to tell you about an idea we had and supported. We think that helping the environment and being green should be in the science curriculum for K-12. These kids are the ones that are going to make the decision about our earth, and school is where we can get the message in. Also, our earth is one of the biggest parts in science, and there is no better way to understand it than to save it!
Our earth is in serious condition, and the kids will be the ones saving it. This is the generation that will be living with these problems if they aren't stopped. It would be great if they could do it by themselves, but most of them have not gotten any eduction about the topic and just can't do anything. The place they learn is school, and that is where we need to focus on schools. In addition to the environmental impact it will make, kids will learn more about science, a subject that is not very well taught in public schools.
A way to teach the kids about this is by explaining to them how global warming works, and how they are polluting. Then, tell them what will happen if we don't stop this. This will probably make them more compassionate about the subject and pay attention better. Then you could tell the kids how to stop this, and why these ideas work (scientifically). At the end of the unit, kids could do a public service project or a reducing carbon footprint challenge or projects while using math and science tools. This will probably make kids want to help more, instead of just doing bookwork.
Thank you for reading this letter and for your time. I know that you are busy and that this might not work out with the things you had planned. Just remember that this is the generation of decision, and school is the place where they make it.
