Tell Corporate America that You Will Not Tolerate the Bullying of Smaller Companies

Target:
Hansen Beverage Company (Monster Energy Drink)
Sponsored by:
This is for all people who support Rock Art in their fight against Hansen Beverage, owners of Monster Energy Drink. Recently, Monster has told Rock Art to "cease and desist" their production of Vermonster, a 10% barleywine because they fear that there could be confusion between this beer and their energy drink. The labels bare no resemblance to each other, one is a beer and one is an energy drink. The only similarity is the "Vermonster" vs "monster" part of the name.

Please help support a small brewery in VT that is up against a giant corporation.  It's not about  fighting for the name, "This is a fight about principles, and to tell corporate America that our justice system is not for sale. We, the people, hold the power, and we have the tools to combat your deep pockets." - Matt Nadeau, Owner of Rock Art Brewery LLC.

What would Hubert Hansen have thought about you trying to bankrupt a small independent business? How do you hold your head up in public?

Hansen Beverage Co is totally out of line here; given the fundamental differences between these beverages - use occasions, target consumer, location in store, etc - I see very little opportunity for brand "confusion" by any (literate) consumer. This just reinforces the perception tha Hansen is really the crappy company it is.

I'm told monster energy drinks have chemical food compounds manufactured in an unregulated factory in CHINA. The chemicals are reported to make laboratory rabbits intestinal tract Shrink. My god, what is Monster energy doing to the school kids? Its bad as crack cocaine. I would never buy a "Food" that was tested on innocent rabbits. Also I was told many Monster employees have a strange sickness close to "Gulf war syndrome" including premature baldness and shrinking of the testicles.

How stupid would you have to be to mistake Vermonster with monster?!?!? This is just common sense, or rather the lack thereof. Calm down corporate clowns, stop taking yourselves so seriously.

i was born and raised in vermont, it is absolutely one of the most amazing places in the country. it is absurd to think that this big corporation is trying to intrude on this small company and bring them to court with the economy the way it is. the term "Vermonster" has been around for as long as i can remember describing any number of things, and definitely no confusion to some rediculous energy drink ever occured. Fight the fight, rock art brewery, you are an awesome beer company and have 100% of my support.

I support Rock Art and Vermonster Beer. This is a deplorable act of greed from Hansens Beverage and from Monster Energy Drink. I myself will never drink Monster Energy again. Although Red Bull is the brand of choice for me! Good luck Rock Art, fight the good fight!

This is ridiculous. Who confuses a glass bottled beer with an energy drink in an aluminum can? They are clearly labeled and this will not hold up in court.

Any corporation who does this to a small business employs some of the most sad, sorry people in this world! Including the lawyers who represent them and make money off hurting those of us who are just trying to make an honest living. Shame on you Monster!

I have been a fan of Rock Art, and small businesses, such as my grandmothers gift shop in Bomoseen, Vt for years! This has nothing to do with name as much as a cooperate entity harassing a small company that wants nothing more than to produce a fine product for the public to enjoy and to live a humble life! Seriously, is a brewery in Morrisville, VT REALLY a threat to a big time coorp. company???? Lets give those who recognize the right to small business and a healthy lifestyle a chance!!!!

I'm glad to see you've dropped your complaint, but bullies and thugs are bullies and thugs. It's too bad you started this mess, since I liked some of your products, but I'll do just fine without them. And, by the way, I don't drink beer. I just don't give my money to bullies and thugs. At your company picnics, do you have "pulling the wings off flies" contests? Willa Jean Dooley

The amount of marketing money that Hansen has spent on it's add campaigns for Monster does not justify unfounded bullying of a small company. There is no connection or trademark infringement issues here anyways. Hansen needs to apologize and move on.

Vermonster and Monster are not the same name. They are not similar products. Their customer base is quite different. Many of the consumers who purchase Monster Energy Drink aren't even of legal age to purchase a Vermonster beer. Hansen Beverage is just being mean. I personally don't stay friends with mean people and I don't buy from companies with mean business practices. Hansen - stop it. Leave Rock Art Brewery alone.

I was wondering why Hansen didn't go after VerMONt as the "MON" is also a component of "Monster"... This is a ridiculous and abusive wielding of their corporate "power." Hopefully the publicity has been good for Rock Art Brewery and nothing but mud in the eye of the Hansen outfit...
