Lobsters are kept in water tanks in stores, with their pincers tied, no space to move and in most cases - not being fed. They are stressed from confinement, lack of oxygen and overcrowding. Lobsters are not sea vegetables, they have brains and feel pain.
Destiny of these lobsters - to be boiled alive.
Lobster nervous system is not like ours, they don't loose consciousness when they feel extreme and severe pain. It means that lobsters feel when they are being cut and cooked until their nervous system is destroyed completely and they die. When thrown in a boiling water, lobsters fight for life in agony, whip their bodies wildly and scrape the sides of the pot in a desperate attempt to escape! It takes 30-40 seconds for the lobster to die. Imagine how much pain they feel.
Without our deadly interruption lobsters could live up to 100 years.
Loblaws is known for a great selection of organic and eco-friendly products, as well as its environmental policies. But this cruelty to lobsters is overlooked only because the company doesn't know that we, the customers, don't like it.
Let's change it! Please sign this petition and together we will make a difference.

Loblaws is known for its environmental and eco-friendly policies like a sustainable fish section and plans to source only sustainable seafood in all stores by 2013. Every year you sponsor the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup to support environmental conservation. Please have the compassion and make another great choice and stop selling live lobsters in all your stores.
We will boycott all Loblaws stores until you make a decision on this issue.
