Bisphenol-A, more commonly known as BPA, is a toxic chemical found in everything from baby bottles to paper receipts. Recent studies show that BPA can interfere with the body's hormone system, potentially leading to a variety of health problems, including damage to the reproductive system and brain, especially in children.
Eleven states have banned the chemical's use in children's products, and Canada, China, and the European Union have adopted similar restrictions. However U.S. federal regulatory agencies have done little to protect the public.
Act now to tell the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to set and enforce limits on how much BPA workers can breathe and to require employers to give workers more information about the health risks of BPA.
We the undersigned urge you to set and enforce limits on how much Bisphenol-A (BPA) workers can breathe.
Recent studies show that BPA can interfere with the body's hormone system, potentially leading to a variety of health problems, including damage to the reproductive system and brain, especially in children.
Eleven states have already banned the chemical's use in children's products. We call on you to protect the public by federally regulating the use of BPA and by requiring employers to give workers more information about the health risks of BPA.
We thank you for your attention to this important matter.
