Tell Sri Lanka to free heroic war zone doctors

Three doctors Thurairaja Varatharajah, Thangamuttu Sathyamurthi and V. Shanmugarajah risked their own lives in the final stages of the war in Sri Lanka to treat hundreds of innocent Tamils. On May 15, they were arrested by Sri Lankan authorities and are being secretly detained.

The whereabouts of the medical practitioners who provided much needed medical assistance to badly wounded Tamil civilians are still unknown. Sign this petition to tell the Sri Lankan government these heroic doctors must be released and allowed to return to their lives immediately.

We the undersigned urge the Sri Lankan government to free doctors Thurairaja Varatharajah, Thangamuttu Sathyamurthi and V. Shanmugarajah who risked their own lives in the final stages of the war in Sri Lanka to treat hundreds of innocent Tamils.

We are shocked that the Sri Lankan government has secretly detained three medical practitioners who did nothing more than perform their duty to provide much needed medical assistance to badly wounded Tamil civilians. They must be released and allowed to return to their lives immediately.

Humbly, some more additional points, Sirs. Noble services of our Doctors under crude conditions without any modern medical equipment who served the innocent victims meant to be treated inhumanely? Disappearance of those valuable doctors should be brought to light ASAP. Now, what the World is waiting for? If ONLY another couple of hundred thousands of Tamils need to be killed so that it will be voiced in UNO and elsewhere? What the World had learned during WW II? It was then the innocent Jews living in their own homes were pulled and massacred, shot and sent to concentration camps for Human Testing and burned to ashes? This was revealed all in the Book later written as “Krystal Nacht” (In English - Breaking of Glass- of Jewish homes) Krystal Nacht - November 9, 1938 On that night in Berlin and other cities throughout Germany and Austria, Jewish businesses were destroyed and Jewish families were dragged from their homes and sent to concentration camps. As the night rang with the terrifying music of breaking glass, thirty thousand people were sent to the long slow death of imprisonment at Dachau, Buchenwald and Sachsenhausen. The visiting Red Cross and other volunteer organizations at that time could not go deeper into the country and the Nazis showed the affluent Jews living in peace and harmony with good jobs (guarded of course) where at that very moment thousands were killed when the World was kept in dark. So, the story is now everyone in this WORLD keep their fingers INTACT and wait until another hundreds and thousands if not million will be killed then they will say OK let got to a truce. Sirs? Is not this kind of things were heard over and over in the so called countries where the Western part of the hemisphere do not get involved until hundreds or thousands needs to be killed, Sirs? My Dear Sirs, in the name of human dignity and humanity as a whole lets take it one by one and understand the root cause and address the issues rather than saying that it is a Democratic Country we don’t interfere? We are praying every minute that we could do something that would turn out into quick resolution without loosing our Tamil Brothers and Sisters anymore. As Tamils we do not forget anyone who could save us from this tyranny Government(s) of Sri Lanka. WORLD please REACT now (as it is too late) and be PROACTIVE NOW and in the future in this arena of WORLD PEACE and not in PIECES? Thank you. Sri Lanka's racist and apartheid government is guilty of the cultural and physical genocide of Tamil people since it obtained independence from Britain in the late 1940s. The mass murder of more than 20,000 Tamil civilians in recent months due to deliberate shelling of civilian areas and hospitals in Tamil populated areas were disgusting crimes of war, which warrant immediate prosecution and the laying of charges. The detention of medical doctors who served in the war zone confirms the Sri Lankan government's intent to suppress or destroy the evidence of its crimes against humanity. Mahinda Rajapakse and his pseudo-Buddhist brethren better build strong bunkers to save themselves. They have not learnt any lessons from history of places like Latin America, Afghanistan etc. that even the strongest of war machineries can be decimated by the people's will to fight oppression.
