Tell this administration to keep contraceptives out of the "abortion" catagory

The Oregonian reported today that the Bush administration is attempting to skip Congress and cut off all federal funding to hospitals, clinics, and health care facilities that supply the birth control pill, emergency contraception and IUDs.

The reason? This administration wants to place these things under the title "abortion mechanisms". To broaden the meaning of this word takes away a womens right to CHOOSE. And without the funding, less women will be able to pay for these things out of pocket.

This regulation is being proposed by the Department of Health and Human Services and will ALSO weaken standards for protecting workers from hazardous materials and alter environmental regulations.

Tell the Department of Health and Human Services and the Bush administration to realize the severity of this decision!

We the undersigned believe that the proposition made by this administration and the Department of Health and Human Services should not only go through congress, but should stand corrected.

By shoving contraceptives into the same category as abortion is a complete twist on words.  Prevention is not the same as "murder". Women should have the right to PROTECT themselves from pregnancy and by denying federal aid, this will hinder lower class and female rape victims the access to these resources.

The Bush administration seems to have forgotten that the human population is strikingly at its peak, and the economy is ever declining. More unwanted pregnancies will only add to our nations problems.
