Justice Scalia has given us little to be grateful for during his 24-year tenure in the Supreme Court. He's consistently voted to strike down laws which make distinctions by race, gender, or sexual orientation. He has argued unwaveringly that there is no constitutional right to abortion. He's sought to criminalize homosexuality. However, his recent declaration that that his interpretation of the 14th Amendment - the equal protection clause - does not include discrimination against women has started up the push for the passage of the ERA again.
So take a moment to join us in thanking Justice Scalia, for proving just how desperately the Equal Rights Amendment is needed!
We, the undersigned, would like to thank you for your latest declaration that that your interpretation of the 14th Amendment--the equal protection clause--does not include discrimination against women, as it could be the start of something wonderful. The push to pass the ERA has lost steam over the years, leading many of us to wonder if it would ever be added to the U.S. Constitution. But you have provided the perfect representation of just how badly the ERA is needed. We couldn't have said it better ourselves, so thank you, Justice Scalia.
Keep up the great work. Look what you've accomplished!
