Thank you for saving Trestles and San Onofre from being destroyed by the Foothill Corridor. I know the battle is far from over because I continue to read articles about the 241 Toll Road fighting to gain approval. I have been surfing the great waves at Trestles for 23 years and I am looking forward to my children having the same experience.
Thank you for your efforts on protecting the future of surfing for my girls.
Stop the "Highway From Hell"!
I wrote in my senior will in 1974, to save Crystal Cove and the Trestles surf areas from development. Obvious Crystal Cove is no longer the pristine beach it once was. But we still have the chance to save Trestles.
Thank you for voting to protect San Onofre State Beach and Trestles. I appreciate it more than you can imagine. We need to protect our natural resources and the beauty that lies there in. That is one battle won. Thank you.
dont build a toll road i used to love to surf trestles they better not ruin it so i can come back home and surf it again!!!!!!!!
Please keep the toll road from impacting the beach area.
The moment the votes were read was overwhelming with emotion and gratitude. Finally, reason prevailed after a long day of hearing the most unreasonable justifications as to why a short-sighted few would think to pave through a pristine piece of nature's beauty. To be a part of that day is something that will stay with me forever. A group of people united, tied by heart and soul to the cause of preserving nature was an experience that I hope every human being has the chance to be a part of. There are few chances to recognize the everyday heroism of everyday people. February 6, 2008 was a day for just that. Everyday heroes saving our Earth, realizing that they were not selfishly saving what they loved for themselves, but saving it for generations to come. In the weary hours of the night, after the decision had been read and the celebratory hoots and hollers had quieted, a young employee of the fairgrounds approached as he did his job, kindly asking attendees to start exiting the building. I'll never forget his words as he spoke to me after listening to hours of passionate arguments from both sides of the issue, "You know I've never been to that place Trestles that you've all been talking about, but it sure sounds nice. I think I'll go there someday." Thanks to the Commissioners, this young man and many other like him will have that opportunity. Trestles remains for all to enjoy her beauty, and I am confident that the passionate many who have supported it's preservation will stick with the fight until reasonable and environmentally responsible solutions prevail once and for all. The fight is not over, but on this day, Earth Day, it comforts me to know that there are everyday heroes among us who will go to great lengths to fight the good fight. To the Commissioners and everyone who has taken a hand at Saving Trestles, "Mahalo."
The Fact that any one would want to harm our beaches in this way is ridiculous
I just learned about the proposed toll road, and I'm appalled. Thank goodness for the Commissioners!!!

Thank you for your support to save Trestles! I can't imagine coming home to south OC with my family and not being able to enjoy the pristine beauty of Trestles because of a ridiculous and unnecessary toll road.
thank you very much for saving this beautiful coast. we camped there last summer and had a great time. i am glad that we still have the option of going there again in the future.
