On Thursday, May 21, 2009 the U.S. Senate overwhelmingly voted,
90-6, against giving President Obama the $80 million for the closing of Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility.
We, the undersigned, wish to express our concern with the closing of Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility without a proper plan of what to do with the dangerous detainees kept there.

We therefore ask that the closing of Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility is not considered until a solid, sound, and well thought out plan is presented to Congress.

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to read this letter, please consider the request above.

The great majority of prisoners in Guantanamo are innocent which is very appalling as documented in reporting and with assigned lawyers for the prisoners. It is laudable that our justice system is working to right some of these injustices. Torture is an unreliable way to get information and should not be sanctioned by our country. As mentioned by others, if we do not abide by appropriate treatment of prisoners, then our citizens may suffer the same fate by other countries. We need to do the right thing.

The president of the United States (Commander in Chief of our Armed Forces) wants Gitmo closed. Is that not enough reason to do so? The plan is to give the human beings in that torture chamber due process of law (the American way).Send the guilty to prison, the innocent home(or somewhere they will be safe).BOWE BERGDALHE,from my home town in Hailey,Idaho is the only US POW in Afghanistan. He was taken captive 6-30-09.I would hate to see his saftey and possible release influenced by our refusal to abide by the Geneve Convention, the torture of Islamic detainees, or the refusal or delay of giving those people fair hearings.
