The martyrdom of a dog

To the attention of Mayor Giovanni Maria RASPITZU and of the City Council of Monti %u2013 Olbia Tempio.

Dear Mayor, I'm addressing this letter to you in the hope that similar images and episodes won't be seen again in your city.

I'm also attaching the photographs of the latest of a long series of victims of indifference and non-compliance with law.

In the 2008 Budget Law ("Legge Finanziaria", December 24, 2007, N. 244) art. 2 sub. 370, it's recommended that all mayors, who are the legal owners and State-designated guardians of the dogs present on the territory of their own cities, should deal with straying dogs, should verify conditions inside kennels and should act against and punish episodes of intolerance, mistreatment and abuse.

A city where such horrible episodes still happen cannot be considered a tourist resort.

Therefore, we will boycott and ask other people to boycott Your city, which has given proof of being indifferent and uncivilized.

Please read this story:

"Please have a look at what we found when we went to Monti (OT)............she was screaming in pain, she had been run over by a car days before we arrived, with broken legs she crawled to the city to ask for help but she was only considered a bother by people, because she was whining with pain, she was left under the sun, she was left to die alone, now she is in horrible conditions in our clinic, maybe she won't survive.............institutions aren't helping us......I'm really speechless. We went there from Olbia to look for her and nobody helped us but two women; there were two girls sitting in front of her, smoking a cigarette, they just told us she was behind a car.............and that she was whining and bothered their afternoon nap. I wish I could die now, this world is s****. She was unconscious, we wetted her face to make her recover from vomiting and fainting...........I even thought she would have died before getting to our car...........What have we become? Where are the human beings who should try to prevent these things?"

Please send this letter to the mayor's direct email address (sindaco@comune.monti.ss.it) as the other email address we have might require a digital signature.
