The Turkish Cypriots are out in the streets again!

Faced with the ongoing, still unresolved Cyprus problem, the International Economic Crisis and the aggressive austerity measures imposed by Turkey, the Turkish Cypriots are facing extreme difficulties. They have for months now been organizing protests and they are planning to escalate their mobilization.

They have declared a General Strike on the 28th January, 2011 and are organizing a mass rally in Nicosia to protest against the austerity measures imposed by Turkey. They are organizing these mass mobilizations to put a halt to the ongoing curtailment of their standard of living. At the same time though, they know it only too well that without a Solution of the Cyprus problem and without the re-unification of our country there can be no real end to their economic hardship.

We are standing in solidarity with the Turkish Cypriot working people in defending their standard of living. We pledge to work with them for an urgent solution of the Cyprus problem that will create the conditions for economic development and will offer a way out from the economic crisis.

This time the Turkish Cypriots will not be alone! We will march side by side with them. We will fight together for the common cause: For a common future, for a peaceful and prosperous future for the generations of Cypriots to come!

The have asked for our solidarity to their struggle. At this moment in time when the Turkish Cypriots are once more out into the streets the Greek Cypriots, in fact all Cypriots, declare that we shall not leave them to walk alone this time. We pledge to fight along with them  for the common cause: For a common future, for a peaceful and prosperous future for the generations of Cypriots to come!
