the causway is evil and we need to do something to help our loved ones!

Im 16 but im trying to save your life, mine has already been spared and i dont want anyone else to have to go through that!! i started this petition because my dad and i got in a car accident on the causeway in 2005 and he died, if the causeway had emergency lanes he would still be alive today! The causeway has crossovers but there so many miles apart that its nott easy to get to them when your stuck in the middle, right? there rules about getting out the car and go stand behind the car and use hand signals is just stupid to me because if we would have done that i wouldnt be here right now, theres so many things wrong with the causeway and someone needs to do something to change that but i cant do it by myself, so please sign my petition, if we dont do something soon maybe one of your loved ones will be next!!! so please help, even if you dont live in the area please sign to help people from losing there loved ones, causes its not worth it, nothing can replace a loved on!!! R.I.P. WAYNE D. CORKERN!! NOTT only did i loose my father on the bridge but one of my friends dad also died because he had problems and had nowhere to go!!the crossovers are wrothless, cause if your in a steady flow of traffic and everyone around you is going 65 or higher and you gotta slow down to like 15 -20 to make the turn into that crossover cause those crossovers arent very bigg!! i dont think anyone should allow people to drive on the bridge if there arent gonna have a place to go when they have problems with their cause! but please think about it next time before you go on the bridge, is it really safe?? am i gonna have a place to go if i have problems with my vehicle?? how do we have the biggest bridge over water and it nott have any place to go when cars break down?? so just because people want to save a quick dollar, they'd rather let someone die so they can have a lil money, i disagree and im nott giving up until the bridge has what it needs and neither should you!!!

I found myself unexpectedly stopped in a disabled car with my family two years ago on the North bound lane of the Causeway. We were terrified as we waited for assistance. It is only by the grace of God that we were not hit. The Causeway desperately needs emergency lanes. We could have so easily been a statistical tragedy that day.

I am from N.O. & have driven that bridge many times, I have always thought about that. What if I were in a situation & had to get to the crossover... would I make it. Hope this helps. Good Luck

My mother drives the causeway everyday to work and I cross it to visit family pretty often. I think an emergency lane is needed and will save many lives. Sorry to hear about your dad, may he rest in peace. God Bless.

I travel the Causeway at least once a week to go to take care of my horses in "Blond". I would feel much safer with an emergency lane on these bridges... I also have family that commute daily that would benefit from the safety of this! Thank you, C.Condoure

Your dad was such a good man. I was sorry to see him go! We definately need emergency lanes on the Causeway. What happened to ya'll could have been avoided if there was an emergency lane. Too many people cross that bridge everyday for there not to be any. This is a great cause. RIP Wayne Corkern.
