Don't Discriminate

Target:
people who discriminate against the disabled
Sponsored by:

I am writing this because I hate the people who discriminate against the disabled. To give more understanding let me tell you my story. My name is Loren Baran and i was born with only half of my right arm(missing elbow down). I am not one of those girls who sit around asking for special attention. I am an A student in advanced classes and am involved in 3 sports, I don't need your pitty. I play basketball for goodness sake.

I here a lot of people making excuses for me. "She only has one arm, let it go." I cannot stand that, they are trying to help but make it worse. I do not want to be babied around. I hate the petitions that say disabled people should have privliges. My friends sometimes forget about my disability, I can do anything they do. I tied with two classmates for most physical fitness challenges passed.  I am a normal kid in junior high, I put up with snobs, get zits, and go on dates. I don't ask for special treatment, so don't treat me like I need it.

Now that I have explained that, I want to tell you the negative things people say. One thing I hate is when people make fun of me. I was born with half a limb, that doesn't make me a alien. I also dislike when people tell me I can't do something. I know what i can and can not do. For instance, my gym teacher said last year, " We are playing lacrosse, it would be to hard for you, why don't you go walk the track." I was outraged.

I wrote this to express that I am a normal kid. I don't want special treatment or to be laughed at, treat me like a normal kid. I know that many people struggle with this and I wanted to explain to everyone what it feels like. I want people to sign this for two things. I want them to promise next time they see a kid with a didability don't go and walk them across the street, wait to be asked. I also ask that you get over yourself and treat them how you want to be treated. Don't eliminate them from the game, but don't let them win either. Ever hear of equality, it applies here!

i really never sign petitions that have no a real reason at all cause (in your case) the petition should be make to those people around you that forget the fact that you are as human as they are, so im signing this just to let you know that not all the people around the world believe that if you are diferent that makes you anormal or whatever what i DO believe is that the fact that you dont have a full arm and do all the things (and even more) that a normal kid does makes you stronger...so dont waste your time with those x people....i would use that time for make myself better so they can regret all they said before cause remember is not their fault, they are just ignorants, and they will always be ignorants if you dont show them what you are made for ...good luck with that ;)
