We the taxpayers, parents, and staff of the Troy School District wholeheartedly oppose the proposed cuts in the media program. We strongly urge that you keep the current levels of media services to our students: two full time media specialists at each high school, one full time media specialist at each middle school, and one full time media specialist at each elementary school. There are over two decades of research indicating that students with a full time media specialist in their building score better on standardized tests. Our students deserve to have complete access to 21st Century skills provided by trained, professional full time media specialists.

Keep your staff - maybe they could all fund raise or take a joint cut or figure how to reduce fuel and running costs instead! Good luck to you all.

I'm a caring aunt for two of your students. They are absolutely heartbroken to hear the news. How short sighted.

The value of Media Center specialists, especially at the HS Level is so important - preparing for college, preparing our future leaders - please reconsider these reductions

WE ARE IN TIMES OF NECESSITY OF PERSONAL CARE, WITHOUT THE GUIDE OF A PARENT THE FUTURE OF CHILDRENS WILL NOT BE SUCCEFUL, PLEASE RECONSIDER THIS DECISION, MEDIA SPECIALISTS ARE LIKE PARENTS, THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND DIRECTION IS A FULL TIME JOB. THE LACK OF THIS POSITION WILL IMPACT DRAMATICALLY THE STANDARS OF OUR A+ TROY SCHOOL DISTRICT.

I agree that media TEACHERS are needed at an early age. All the basic skills are taught in elementary so students can be successful in their later education. Technology skills are the future of their lives and they need to be educated to use technology to its potential.

No one in a school supports the curriculum, staff and students more then the media specialist. Please reconsider cuts.

Our young children's reading skills and love of reading would be severely impacted without a full time media specialist. As well as their growth from Kindergarten and up in learning to respect books, their aurhors and illustrators. This program is a big reason why the TSD has such high scoring reading apptitudes. Cut pace, before this!

In this high tech world today everything is communication and education. This department is not an entertainment department but one to keep the kids up with the different forms of communication. Do we really feel that different forms of communication in the future (i.e. social networking)is a part of ediucation that can be ignore. The educational system needs to take a big part in teaching kids how to handle these sites, etiquette, and how to use them to communicate effectively. Do we really want to get rid of this department?

We can pack lunches if we don't care for the food, we can drive our children if we don't care for the bus drivers. There is nothing we can do however about losing our media specialist. Bemis Elementary will not be the same school without our media specialist, period! She is busy every minute of her day offering the best learning environment for our kids. My child will move to middle school next year so we won't be at Bemis but for the sake of the kids still there, please support this plea!
