The dogs housed at the Trumbull County Dog Pound in Warren, Ohio are euthanized by gassing. Their screams have been heard by a volunteer while they were slowly dying. Not only do the dogs face the gas chamber, they are treated inhumanely while they are there. Dogs are forced to lay in their own waste, dogs are kenneled together and fight but not separated, injured or sick dogs are left untreated, kennels are hosed down while the dog is still present, females in season are housed with intact males, the list goes on and on.
Please sign our petition so that the dogs who are unfortunate enough to end up at this dog pound are treated humanely by the staff and if they are to be euthanized they pass on peacefully by lethal injection.

Why kill an innocent animal when you can kill a guilty murderer or child molester instead? Think of all the tax dollars that are wasted keeping alive these miserable monsters, not to mention providing them hot meals and cable TV. That money would be much better spent saving the lives of innocent animals who commited no crime. Who would you rather run into in a dark alleyway - Dahmer or Garfield?

Those conditions and the cruelty are appalling....in most States that is considered animal abuse and cruelty, and punishable by law. Inhumane shelters are absurd...what is the point other than blatant disregard for life? Surely your County can drum up enough funds to cease this heinous practice, and create a more peaceful and healthy environment for these helpless creature's last moments?

If this is true about this Pound, it is a shameful representation of Ohio as a whole state, and of the governor for allowing this to happen. NO ANIMALS SHOULD BE GASSED, EVER. And the animals should be treated HUMAN-ly while they are there and given every opportunity to show themselves as adoptable loving pets, not forced to endure fights and rapes and gross living conditions.

No unwanted animals should EVER be put to sleep...especially by horrific gas chambers... animals should have sanctuaries to live out their lives in, or be found proper, good homes. Breeding of more pet animals needs to stop !! Don't animal shelter staff go into working there because they care about animals ? How can they allow gassing and substandard treatment of animals to go on here?

Yes a lot of shelters still use the gas chamber. They throw a lot of them in there together. It is a slow horrible way to die. It does need to be outlawed. We need better laws to protect the animals while in the care of any animal shelter.

I believe that it is possible to increase adoptions by remaining open to the public after customary work hours and on Sat. I, myself, have tried to visit in order to adopt-- only to find the place closed.
