Please reconsider this decision. Your program is very important to Ukrainians worldwide. Last year, when I was visiting my brother in Ukraine, I met people who mentioned that your program gives them a view of the kind of country they want Ukraine to become. Ending the Ukrainian Section of your program cuts off 46 million Ukrainians, just in Ukraine, not to mention that Ukrainians are the ninth largest ethnic group in Canada. I thought that it is "RCI’s mandate is to increase awareness of Canadian values, as well as its social, economic and cultural activities" around the world and to immigrants in Canada. How does terminating the Ukrainian Section keep with your own mandate? I ask you to please reconsider this decision. Ukrainians and Canadians have been linked for so many years. Ukrainian immigrants have been coming to Canada since before the First World War and, even though many Ukrainians were forcibly interned during and after that war, Ukrainians continued to contribute by becoming good citizens of Canada. I believe that one of the most lasting contributions Ukrainian Canadians have made to the wider culture of Canada is the concept of multiculturalism. And now, Ukrainians are being discriminated against, again! You are doing a great injustice to the Ukrainian people around the world, particularly to those in Ukraine. Ukraine is a country which is struggling to shake off all the lies they were force-fed while held captive in the USSR. It will take time and a positive mentor for them to relearn how to be good citizens of the world. What better way than through your program, where they can hear about and strive for Canadian values. I believe your decision is short sighted. Once more I ask you to reconsider and do the right thing. Please reinstate the Ukrainian Section of the RCI.

This is a short sighted move. In addition to deserting a an active local community, Ukraine is struggeling to find its way as a full partner among nations. This is not the time to curtail excellant radio efforts like this.
