Child Support Enforcement Agency is using the strength of the courts and allowing my Ex to double dip monetarily. By the CSEA formula our children should receive support at 740 a month. Our kids already receive about 1100 in child support in the form of adoption subsidies. CSEA does not acknowledge subsidies; she gets over 900 from me totaling 2000 (CSEA self-preservation).
The rules and laws that govern the CSEA allow them to relentless pursuit has driven this Dad into poverty. When entering CSEA building in Lorain there was a BIG sign stating FATHERS HAVE RIGHTS [What a Joke!!]. A father should have civil rights to be a DAD, not a notch in CSEA belt. There is definitely a need for child support in most cases, but this unique situation the courts and CSEA should not allow my EX to Double Dipping.
I lost my house, filing bankruptcy and lost my job. I live with my sister in the basement. No one in concerned I have e-mailed or called Senator, Representative, Governor, Washington, CSEA, Job And Family Services, Newspapers, Television, ACLU, Radio and too many more to remember. All these agencies, government and media have done is nothing as of yet.

single mom who while incarcerated was assessed a $231 a month order. judge stated "I was the mother and should of known better", and in case of fathers had no hesitation issuing a $50 a month order. Have had my children with me 100% since i was released and receive no help from fathers. arrears had reached 16,000 of which i've paid 6,000. They are garnishing me 231 a month, employer collected for garnishment but missed a few payments, then lied to cse stating the payments werent made because I had taken time off from work. This was a lie and I have proof in form of pay stubs etc. not knowing they had lied, I was pulled over and to my surprise was issued a driving under revocation for non-payment. Getting screwed from all directions, raising my girls on my own with the addition of two grandchildren and instead of receiving any relief, I am being penalized every direction I turn. About to throw the towel in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I pay $317.00 a month. My son's mother stopped showing up for visitations well paying $317.00 a month I can't afford an attorney to fight it! DHR Sucks because they do not care about whats right only about what the custodial parent wants. Attorneys and Judges are crooked and you need to have a crooked attorney to get any justice.

I'm Leon and I share the grief associated with this govermental punishment of having children. I have just been released from prison, after 5 years, even while proving I did not commit the crime of battery domestic violence against the very person I owe child support to. And now I owe more than $16,000 which the goverment is only giving me thirty days to pay off "in its entirety" or I'm facing a host of govermental arbitrary abuse. Which includes, but is not limited to:wage garnishment,lost of my driving license,and more possible incarceration. Now, does the govorment seem at all concerned for my children? By the way, I haven't found a job yet, due to the economy down fall.

I definitely cannot afford it. I am very unwealthy. This girl I knew and had a thing with 6 years ago. Had a kid back then. Right after she has the baby she runs off to Iowa. And I'm in Arkansas of course. And now I hear from the courts. 6 years later after her vanishing. It is complete crap. I won't be able to live for sure. I am thinking I will probably have to sit in jail.

These laws are very unfair and the truth is. They will ruin your life. So that is what we get. The father is pissed on and mother gets her way. That just sucks. Oh yeah. Her and her husband are doing very well at their jobs. They are well off.

The Child support rules suck. It's all about what the woman wants. It's not about what the kids need. It is unfair and unfortunately we the men have to pay the price. I have 4 kids my self and pay $2000 child support which leaves me with only $400 to pay for car, insurance, gas and food. Forget a place to live. That's not important. Forget about place for the kids to stay every other weekend or vacation or any other day. It only hurts the kids more because they don't see their father. But meanwhile the mother has a brand new luxury car a house salon every week, clubbing every weekend etc etc etc. We are just paying for their luxuries.

Why is child support so one sided? Don't get me wrong I believe in custodial parents getting support for the children. I myself have joint custody with my ex-husband and I pay him child support and that's fine, there is nothing wrong with that it started when the judgement was made. What is wrong is when a parent is and has been paying support (cash) and after 16 years the custodial parent gets vindictive and decides to go to child support enforcement and say the non-custodial parent has not paid and gets a judement for current and arrears based on what the custodial parent says. This has just happened to my husband. He now has to pay $56,000 dollars in arrears and $526 in ongoing support. This is so unfair! There was nothing to protect him. This woman should have done this 16 years ago it's unfair to let her to do this now. What can we do?

Something must be done!!!!!! The government does nothing about putting me in poverty. WAKE UP DUMBASSES!! If you dont leave me with enough money to pay rent, insurance, and soap I WILL (and did) LOSE MY APT., and job. Nobody wants to employ a man who lives in his car and cannot take a showerregularly. IDIOTS!!! Meanwhile my kids dont understand why, so ........ yep you government yahoos really know what to do with money. Give it to the worthless people that just sit and collect it. I AM NOT AN ATM. And now the roles are reversed, and Im still screwed. She does not have to pay child support, AND I can not get any kind of AFDC. Meanwhile I am forced to pay arrears to her, AND pay back AFDC she was given. WHAT THE?? Its double repay, so here I am with my kids, STILL in poverty. I dont want or need to live like a king, I have my kids and thats great, but it would be nice to afford to take them to a baseball game or miniature golfing or something. Its sad to KNOW that MY (so called) country has no problem treating me like a soldier whos sole purpose is to work for them, and abide by them, and respect them. Pull your heads out and do something. There are far too many AMERICANS suffering from YOUR sexually biast joke of system in calculating child support Its unfair and we need a change!!!!!!!Thank You my fellow supporters, we need to do something, if not for us, for the men on thier way to being in our shoes!!!!

response to LYNN KANITZ post.....her signature should be erased....i am her former husband.....i have had SLOW work due to the economy (i work construction) and have worked every chance i have gotten......LYNN on the other hand was making 10,000.00 a month and crying about 500 in child support....the other 700 she is referring to is from day care that SHE DEMANDED IN COURT that she retain for the tax credit.... Furthermore we SPLIT the tax deduction which is MORE than fair seeing as i have full custody.... I didnt want to suspend daycare BECAUSE I HAVE A FULL TIME JOB and even days where there wasnt working i was getting called to come in for 3-4 hours, besides if lynn lost her job wouldnt it be insane to NOT BE LOOKING FOR ANOTHER ONE instead of focusing on child care and if she did look for a job wouldnt our daughters care suffer.... Lynn also claimed i was vindictive....i am not i just want to make sure my duaghter is happy but when you deal with someone that has done so many underhanded things even to the extent of having family members call me to try and get me into an arguement so that they could record it....i start loosing trust in ANY CONTACT not set forth by the court order... Dont let this petition be hijacked by disgruntled people like LYNN KANITZ who loose their job (for innappropriate conduct for gods sake)due to their own actions (voluntarily becoming underemployed) to try and get child support relief. Thank you. side note: Lynn has dropped more than 40000.00 trying to get OUT OF PAYING 1200 a month in TOTAL child support....seems to me that she couldve saved that money for our daughter instead of spending on lawyers, forcing me to do the same to retain the support.... and she is consistently late up to 3 weeks a month...

I think some child support laws are unfair but there are 2 sides to every story.....why shouldnt people have to pay late fees for being weeks late on it as well tho?

I was fortunate enough to afford a lawyer but the child support laws in Maryland are so bias that I am still getting butchered by the child support system. My ex and I are in the Army but the courts have decided to grant her sole physical and legal custody. I only get them 6 weeks out of the summer. The worse part is they are taking $1750 in child support for two kids which puts me in the red by $350 every month. So I had to cash in my investments and exhausted all of my saving just trying to stay a float while she has purchased a new luxury SUV and a home. So even though I have 6 weeks of visitation I can't afford to go in get my kids who now live in Oklahoma. Even If I was able to get them for the 6 weeks I will not be able to feed them or provide the child care that is required due to their ages. So basically the courts have terminated my parent rights! I have been fighting this for over a year and a half now and all I have gotten so far is more and more in debt with my attorney! I have been a great father to my children and I love them dearly but I am so frustrated that I just want to walk away and say the hell with it. If I have no rights or say so in their upbringing and can't even afford to feed them while they are in my custody what is the point or purpose of me being in the picture! CHILD SUPPORT LAWS ARE THE MOST UNFAIR AND BIAS LAWS IN THE UNITED STATES. I have a $300 an hour attorney and I am getting beat down so I can only imagine what its like for a man who does have the funds to hire an attorney! Its time for men to petition the US Congress for change!

My youngest son had a liver transplant back in February of 06 since then he has been doing great but he lives with me. I pay child support to their mother and she does not send it back even though she said that she would give it back. She does not do anything for Brian at all but my oldest son, she is always sending him money, bought him a round trip plane ticket, buying him clothes. She is doing all of this even after I tell her that we need the money back because we don't hardly have food in the house. The state will not help me, I can't get help from no where. I get paid twice a month and my last pay check was $555.00. I pay $516.00 in child support a month. I asked her to terminate the child support but she said no because she doesn't want to even though in the state of NC. I'm not required to pay child support past Patrick L. Haires' 18th birthday and he is presently 18 and I still can't get the child support terminated.

My child support story is a reverse Robin Hood Story. A poorer family of 5 (with three children) has to pay $15,000 a year of support to a richer family of two. My 6 year old daughter spends about a third of her time with me, making us a family of 6. Her mother, the custodial parent, is single with no other children, and is a rich lawyer, and has the child two thirds of the time. My daughter's mother (the custodial parent) makes more money than I, so a family with three children and the lower income is paying $15,000 a year to a single person with no other kids and the higher income. Obviously, this isn't very helpful in terms of saving money for the college educations of the three children in my family, let alone feeding them. And the one child generating the $15,000 CSO order is with me 1/3rd of the time. So you could argue that, if 1/3 time with us offsets 1/3 time with her mother, we are paying $15,000 to the rich mother for only 122 days or 1/3rd of the year. The formula obviously does not make enough allowance for the income of the Custodial recipient, and does not allow enough for the cost of children in the non custodial family. The kids in the non-custodial family are the big losers. My guess would be that the formula is not fair in these respects becuase it is focused more on mamimizing CSO dollars, at the expense of being fair to children in non-custodial households or fair in terms of the income level of the recipient. I view my daughter's mother's decision to go after me for child support (in our case) as the moral equivalent of robbing a bank or burglerizing someone's house. Robbing the poor to pay the rich. It is stealing, plain and simple. Legalized stealing, but still stealing. She is morally bankrupt. Why would she enjoy spending money obtained in such a manner? Also, she is doing this in the public arena, for all to see. So all the kids involved will hear all about the unfair child support as they grow up. As will friends and family.
My child support story is a reverse Robin Hood Story. A poorer family of 5 (with three children) has to pay $15,000 a year of support to a richer family of two. My 6 year old daughter spends about a third of her time with me, making us a family of 6. Her mother, the custodial parent, is single with no other children, and is a rich lawyer, and has the child two thirds of the time. My daughter's mother (the custodial parent) makes more money than I, so a family with three children and the lower income is paying $15,000 a year to a single person with no other kids and the higher income. Obviously, this isn't very helpful in terms of saving money for the college educations of the three children in my family, let alone feeding them. And the one child generating the $15,000 CSO order is with me 1/3rd of the time. So you could argue that, if 1/3 time with us offsets 1/3 time with her mother, we are paying $15,000 to the rich mother for only 122 days or 1/3rd of the year. The formula obviously does not make enough allowance for the income of the Custodial recipient, and does not allow enough for the cost of children in the non custodial family. The kids in the non-custodial family are the big losers. My guess would be that the formula is not fair in these respects becuase it is focused more on mamimizing CSO dollars, at the expense of being fair to children in non-custodial households or fair in terms of the income level of the recipient. I view my daughter's mother's decision to go after me for child support (in our case) as the moral equivalent of robbing a bank or burglerizing someone's house. Robbing the poor to pay the rich. It is stealing, plain and simple. Legalized stealing, but still stealing. She is morally bankrupt. Why would she enjoy spending money obtained in such a manner? Also, she is doing this in the public arena, for all to see. So all the kids involved will hear all about the unfair child support as they grow up. As will friends and family.

I am a SC Greenville mother and I lost a high paying job. I went to court requesting temporary reduction in child support and to temporarily stop daycare. I was denied by Judge Conits. Basically I got a jail sentence. My ex-husband has been allowed to not work when he is totally able. He sits at home playing video games all day after he drops our daughter off at daycare. Why is it that the court does not see BOTH parents having to be responsible for that child. When you have a vindictive ex.... who won't work with you, the courts allow this type of person to hurt you by putting you in jail. You only get 15 minutes to argue your case and multiple times the judge did not care that my ex is UNDER employed and only works here and there. This is his choice and won't go out and get a job. My ex also did not want to temporarily suspend daycare because he stated there was no way he was going to let me see our daughter more. I am starting to fall behind on my $1200/month child support payments. Even before I lost my job I could not afford this child support. Also, the court ruled on letting my ex-claim our daughter on taxes.

My husband is being put through the ringer by NC child support. Recently his support has increased by $300 & they have added medical ins to the package! We just bought a house & now it is a struggle to pay our bills. He recently had to take a 10% pay cut because of the economy & we have no money to pay an attorney to go to court in another state. The mother does not work & hasn't since the birth of the children, whenever she gets the notion to take my husband back to court for more, she doesn't pay anything...It's free for her...Ridiculous!!!

I make $1600 gross a month without overtime, which is rare, and my payment is $800 a month. After deductions on my check I'm barely able to pay rent, food, and utilities, and that's it-no savings, no retirement, or no entertainment. I can't even afford health insurance. This has to change.

I am a wife/mother. My husband pays ridiculous child support payments and we can barely keep up. His ex refuses to work or try to make any type of income whatsoever. Everytime she shows up in court (which if he is a dollar behind, she puts him in contempt), she is always pregnant with another mans child. She is on number 3 already with 3 different men and they are all in court!! Where is the fairness in that? I was a single mother when my husband met me, I DID NOT want child support from my son's father. I worked hard and made it!

I pay child support for both my children in Auglaize county ohio, which i dont mind doing because they need to be taken care of. On the other hand who is going to take care of me!!! child support takes every last penny i get. They usally are kind enough to leave me around fifty to seventy dollars a week to live on!!! So usally im either hungry or homeless do to the fact. Ive try to fight the child support inforcement agency on my own with no results. Ever time i try to get answers to why i pay so much they just run everything in a big circle with me, and never give me a direct answer they just tell me to get an attorney. Im at ropes end and dont know what to do with them or my life!!! I have tried to attend college and make more money but was threatend by my case worker, if i didnt work full time i would be put in jail!!! they claim part time is not enough even though im just trying to have a better future for me and my children who i never get to see..

I totally agree. Something has to be done to change the laws. All of these man-hater laws that support lazy women are pathetic and ludicrous. My husband works hard, we can never get ahead because Child Support Division always wants more. He was paying $376 a month which was fine based on what he was making. Then, they turn around a send a garnishment notice to his employer for $400.00 per month. So, that's $767.00 per month. My husband makes $1400.00 per month after taxes. How can you live off of less than $700.00 per month. Why should I have to take on the majority of all of our bills. It's not fair to our household. He went court and tried to explain his situation and they could care less. They told him if he didn't come up with a balloon payment of $3900.00, he was going to jail for six months! That's a great idea! How is someone suppose to seek, find and keep gainful employment if they keep locking you up?!? My husband has been to jail twice for this. It's ridiculous. The most deplorable part about it is she didn't even need to file on him because he was already giving her plenty of money weekly to care for his daughter not including groceries and money for clothes. One of her pathetic friends told her that she could get MORE money if she filed on him and so she did. IF it was really about the child, then why hasn't he seen her in 2 1/2 years and why did she wait until she was 5?

This is a disgrace! This is what I mean the law needs to change and yes every individual case is truly different, I agree child support needs to be paid in some degree by both parents, but there are limits to this, here you have a man trying and she is able to double dip?!, when the courts do not even enforce mandatory support! There are a lot of non-custodial parents I know trying and doing the right thing and it is rediculous how some of them seem to pay the price for these dead beat ones , this is sickening and disgraceful.
