We are trying to change the ordinance in Abilene, Texas also. Two pit bulls and a Rhodesian Ridgeback broke through our fence and killed our 2 miniature schnauzers and injured our lab. Worse if it had been humans injured or killed!

I just found out that our next door neighbors 2 dogs got out of thier fenced in back yard and attacked another dog that was being walked by his owner. We have contiunally compained about these dogs barking at all hours of the day and night and have also complaned about the dos CHARGING the fence when our family, yes we have 2 young children. They got out about 1 year ago and chased an adult up on the roof of his car and now this. The cops come out and give warning after warning and have yet to do anything. Now this happens, the cops gave them a warning and net time they are put down. Well guess what next time it is going to be one of the many children in this area and then it will be too late.

I have worked in the insurance industry for twenty years and know that once an animal bites that they are more likely to bite again especially the breed of pit bulls. We only allow one bite and then they either have to get rid of the animal or we cancel the insurance due to the chance of it happening again increases after the first bite. We will not insure houses with pit bulls and other certain breeds.

I was amazed to learn last year that Urbandale doesnt have any animal control when stray kittens were born in my yard. I had to take them to ARL with ARL noting I "abandoned" MY pets.

Approximately 3.5 wks ago I was bitten by my neighbors "Pitt Bull" dog over our chain link fence resulting in 7 stitches and 20 days of antibiotics as the wound was infected. Unfortunately the city of Urbandale, IA requires the dog to bite or attack twice before deeming it vicious. My neighbors nor their dogs lives have been interupted however mine and my 2 yr old son's have been significantly. Thank goodness that I was the victim and not him. Who is next?? I don't think their should be another victim. Please assist me in making some change to the Urbandale ordinance. If you are a resident of Urbandale, IA please think about signing this petition.
